I have an older ( 15 yrs. ? ) Optimus Hiker, brass tank with side pump.

I'm having problems getting a tight blue flame at the burner as it spits and flame flares occur, also when turned off, fuel continues to seep from the tank onto the stove for some extended period.

Perhaps it needs some rebuilding? If so where can a kit be obtained

    Help would be appreciated.

Does it look like this one owned by S. Molson?

Are you preheating the burner with alcohol or stove fuel before opening the spindle (fuel) valve?

    Have you read the instructions?
You can find the instructions at this link on page 8 of the "Download Center" maintained at Optimus. You want "Manual Optimus 111T" if your stove looks like the one in the first link above.

Some of the parts for a refurbish of your stove are available from Ross at The Fettle Box. You can find a link to his website in the sidebar to the right on pages at CCS.

If your stove still emits fuel from the jet when the spindle valve is closed it is possible the cleaning needle needs to be reset, or, that the tip of the spindle is spalted or burred.

A photograph of your stove operating/misbehaving could be helpful to effect a diagnosis.

    Hi Jacques,

What type of fuel are you using? Are you using fresh fuel?
