Flame Pan

    You may have seen this already.

    There's a pan that has been designed by a British Rocket Scientist/Engineer that claims to heat water or food faster. It looks like the surface area of the pan has been increased. There is claim of a 40% efficiency gain.

    Somebody please buy this pan and test it, I live in Socialist Norway, so it costs a fortune to get it here :p

    Would also like to see it tested with the Primus ETA Pot.

    I use the Optimus pots with a rather less elegant heat exchanger and found that when bringing a cup of water to the boil it does so in about half the time compared to a plain aluminium pot. As for cleaning I've never managed to get the heat exchanger part back to new but the tarnishing doesn't come off in my pack either.

    I've just looked up the sellers site and these pots excellent though they might be are definitely not comparable with the backpacking Optimus.

    They look good but they're not backpacking material and at those prices they'll be staying on the shelves.
