There was not an option for 'Made and Owned' so I checked the 'Made, Used, Owned' section.

I have an Optimus 111 Hiker that I installed the alcohol jet and restrictor in and fired it up to see how it worked, then changed it back to petrol. It is not very likely that I will ever use it for cooking with alcohol.

For a short while I was fooling around with the soda can stoves and made several. They all worked fine for heating a cup of water. Some of them were given away and I kekpt two of them. Again it is not very likely that I will ever use them for camping or hiking. They are more of a toy than a serious stove.

    Hi, Iain,

You, Sir, are truly the King of Polls!!! ;)

I have quite a few Meths stoves, and like most of them.

    I have a 199 that's setup for Meths.

4-5 Optimus Trapper 81's, and of course, it's my most favorite Meths stove! ;) 8)

1 Optimus Purple Flame 91 (Thanks, Rik!)

    1 Optimus Storm Stove 77A

1 Trangia Model 25, with red, teflon-coated pots, kettle, and frying pan.

    1 Trangia Westwind model.

1 Trangia-type brass burner, made by Sigg. I've not had time to play with this one, yet, but thanks to Brother Raymond, I look forward to doing so! Thanks!!

1 Pop can stove that I bought on Ebay. It's a screaming little thing, but runs out of "gas" very quickly, so it's only for boiling the odd quart of water, and not for any serious cooking. Combined with the Trangia stoves, however, it can make a great system even better with it's quick boiling! Still testing.......

2 little Meths stoves that Ross sent my way. Very cute little brass jobbies, and I like them, just because they're very elegant in form and function! Thanks, Ross!

My oldest stove is from 1872, and is a combination stove, candle, and leaded-tin cooking pot!!! It's a really neat little fellow, and it's overall design will win your heart, even if you don't fancy Meths stoves.

Also have a pop can stove that Brother Dave sent my way, along with the bits to fashion another one. Thanks, Dave!! Though I have yet to give it a try, I'm eager to do so, and appreciate your sending the bits and good directions to guide me on the path.

I have also tried the 111T with it's proper Meths jet, and an interesting restrictor that I got from a Svea burner.

3 Homestrand Meths stoves. These marine-type stoves are very neat, and work a treat!

There may be a few more, but that's all I can bring to mind at the moment. Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc Mark

P.S. Forgot two Turmsport stoves, both different models......

I've got a few Trangia burners and clones.

    2 Trangia Westwinds
    1 Trangia Mini
3 Swedish(?) military Trangia(?) stoves with oval pots

I also have a stove that was made for Sterno (solid meths), but that a Trangia burner fits in nicely.

I've used Sterno on several trips (years ago), and have used the Westwinds and Mini as a "second burner" on overnights, and on day ski trips to heat tea.

I have plans to begin testing some meths stove ideas. (And so the disease progresses...)

1 Punker single burner marine stove.
    1 Norma 10
    1 Phoebus 28
    1 Origo 4000
1 Vulcano (similar to the Turm Sport)
    1 Turm sport
1 Sur-Pac Emergency and Survival stove. Cute and clever, but utterly useless.
2 Swedish military units. I'd like to know what the Swedish Army calls 'em.
The most useful are in order: Punker marine, Phoebus 28, Norma 10, Swedish Military kits, Turm Sport and Vulcano as they're nearly identical. Last and certainly least is the Sur-Pac Survival unit. It is worse than useless as the space it takes up could be occupied in one's pack by healthful, nutritious air.

I haven't tried lighting the Origo 4000 yet as I'm seriously considering Ebaying it. I paid $45, and I saw a worse one go on ebay for over $200.00. The current comparable model is deeply discounted online at over $400.00.

Tenement type sliding collar wick stove.

    1 Trangia Westwind
    1 Trangia Mini
    2 Trangia military surplus variety
6 Trangia military burners from the sportsmans guide
    1 Optimus purple flame
    1 Optimus 81
    1 Homestrand marine stove
    1 Sigg fondue burner

I think that's it. I doubt I'll ever use my 111's and my 199 on alcohol, I like them too much on kero and white gas.

Rik, your list rivals Doc's, I'm impressed. Optimus likely sold all of about 10 of the 81's in the US, Doc managed to buy half of them. ;)

    Morning, Alan, and All,

Yes, Rik's list is impressive, and only bolsters his well-earned reputation as someone who dearly loves the Meths stoves, just as it should!

As to me ending up with "about half" of the 81's sold in the US: If I could have bought them ALL, I would have!!!  :D :D ;) These stoves are "the tits", as far as I'm concerned!! :D :D The last new one that I got, I received directly from Optimus, as I was in the midst of writing an article on proper stoves for use on the PCT, or any other long trail, and Optimus sent me one for testing. Rather than send it back, I bought it for a reduced price. The group for which I was writing the article went belly up, for a time, and I never published it. But, the Trapper 81 figured highly in that article, and this was WAY before the current pop can stove rage that's sweeping the long distance backpacking community!! Back then, it was "common knowledge" that Meths couldn't be found ANYWHERE, and that Meths stoves were little more than playthings, and shouldn't be used for any "serious" trip........... ! Feck 'em, says I!!!!!!!!  ;)

Oh, and I forgot another Meths stove. This one is a huge Landers, Frary, and Clark, "Universal Alcohol Stove No.110". This is a very large and heavy stove, and completely different than any of their other stoves, that I've seen, anyway.

Anyway, it's outstanding to see Meths stoves being so well loved by our membership!! Long may they remain popular, and long may we all love them!!! :D :D Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc Mark

AlthoughI have the RETEC alkahol stove , I have never lit it (minty in the original box) .
I got inspired by recent entries on the board and went out and puchased a new tra
ngia burner to play with . While it is no match for my other stoves ,I can see its benefits for sure. :D

a Turm Sport--all very nice, but slow to the boil--the photo is some bits left over
from a batch of "pop can" stoves i made as Xmas gifts--for canoe and camp buddys--
i sealed up the gift stoves with JB Weld and tryed foil tape on a couple i kept---
the glue melts and runs out from under the tape---i'll finish up these and use the JB
