Here is another bootsale find that I knew nothing about until I looked on here, its "The Fury" made in England of all places! Not bad for a fiver, spare cork filler cap seals, pricker and filler funnel. The yellow paper is what was around the tin and it even has the instructions, I've not tried it, I'm not sure I will?
munchh you have a lovely example of 'The Fury'. I have one that is nickel plated, but yours appears to be brass, unless it is the lighting. I do not know what you paid for it, but these stoves are quite rare, especially ones with all the 'bits-and-pieces'. If you think it has been lit previously then I would light it again. You will be surprised how easy it is to light and how wonderfully it burns. It is a petrol stove. Coleman Fuel or non water-based panel wipe or four-stroke Aspen fuel are ideal. If that is a problem for you, then you could try standard unleaded petrol.
Thanks, It is just the lighting, it is nickle, but i'm sure i only paid £5, i have stayed away from petrol stoves favoring meths, but for £5 i thought as it was in such good condition it was a must. It has definately been used, so as soon as i have the correct fuel i'll give it a try.
Very nice!! If it burns anywhere like my Taykit coil stove you will be pleased with its utility. Aside from alcohol stoves the coil design is the simplest design out there. Very dependable without the moving parts of more sophisticated varities. You have scored a prized, and most useful, addition to any collection. Gordon
Hi there, Munchh great find, nice to see instructions etc.Good looking stove. Was this a Pease Pottage find by any chance? cheers Nick
Ah Ha That would be telling!!!!!!!! No I just happen to know a few of the boot sales in that area, I have relatives at Crawley Down, putting your location of Gatwick into the mix it was a guess at that or Rusper! Is Pease Pottage Usually much good I have only been once, before stovepox took hold !You have obviously had good hunting there recently! Cheers Nick
Hi Nick and Munchh. Been to Pease Pottage three or four times but never bought a thing. Seems to be full mainly of kids toys and clothes. But it seems the odd stove creeps in I prefer Poynings/Sayers Common - a bit further down the A23. Later start so you don't have to get up so early. There is a fairly new and small boot fair opened about three miles from me at Halland on the A22 on a Saturday AM. No stoves yet but I've got some good deals there. Mostly genuine sellers as it's too small to attract the dealers. I picked up some Stihl chainsaw PPE there last Saturday - trousers, gloves, gaiters and a bag. All new, for £30 (no, it wasn't nicked, I know the seller!). I've also had some luck at Polegate, but it's very large with a lot of dealers. Regards, Terry PS.. Munchh. If you need Panel Wipe to use as fuel in gasoline stoves (much better than petrol), the best place to get it down our way is Brighton Autopaints in Hove - £12.95 for five litres.
Oh no, people talking about bootsales, im not sure I can handle this.... Pease pottage is better for buyers than sellers, mainly because you get a certain type who walk up from Crawley and want everything for 50p, its hard work and I dont ever sell there. I love sayers common or "MEGA BOOTSALE" if you google it, but also Rusper which is an 11 oclock start, run by a friend of mine, much nicer than any in the area and he does not let any buyers in until 11am so you get timevto set up and haveca quick look round. On a saturday, there is also Faygate, quite small, sometimes very small, but its the place I have found the most storm lanterns and a guyvwho sells bikes (my other passion). So my weekends can go like this.... Saturday Faygate, Sunday Pease pottage early, then Mega, then back to Rusper, and home for about 2pm. you have to get up early and often to find those pokemon and nerf guns that my kids want, I love a booty, hence while on holiday in the witterings you have one at Hunston on the saturday and tuesday (alot smaller) and Chichester on the sunday in the cattle market carpark. deep breath, thats my lot.
Sounds like it. You need the Naptha version not the water based 'eco' version. Of the Naptha versions, you want the one without the anti-static additives. At Autopaints, it's the one in the white can - Link . I use it in all my gasoline stoves. There must be an auto paint place in Crawley, but I've never found it. Nice to see another member in the South East. We seem to be a bit thin on the ground down here. There used to be a member in Crowborough but I've not seen any posts from him for a while. Of course, you are now hooked. I started with a car boot Primus No5 and now have 50 plus stoves, not to mention the lanterns! Terry
Your fury should look like this when on song 8) Good luck & show some pic's of your Fury flames soon 8) Stu
That's a great looking stove & for £5, it's a bargain! Maybe it would be a good idea to add the instructions and other paperwork in the gallery for future reference (the more info the better). Frank
Car boot compact outfit Primus 96 first find,2 years later [no 3!] 50 plus now and 3 lamps! You have the car boot bug big time, they can be good hunting grounds but it can be weeks between finds and some are better than others. Good luck with the addiction! cheers Nick
