Pigeon Ignus stoves were made with a small silent burner. On this stove the silent burner was knackered and replacements are no longer available: The silent burner just sits inside the burner bell, so I wondered if I could install a flame spreader in it's place. As the jet sits well below the bottom of the bell, I guessed that the flame spreader would need to sit a little lower in the bell than normal. I made the spreader from some scrap brass, copying a standard flame spreader but making the arms a little longer. The control key was missing so I've used a clock key: The spreader looks very orange as the photo was taken in very low light: Passed the tea test with no problems: An easy conversion which can be simply reversed if a replacement silent burner is ever obtained. Over the years I have seen two Ignus's with roarer burner plates on Ebay France, original ? see no reason why not. Nick, there's a Campus No 3 and an Ignus on Ebay France that finishes Monday. The Iggie is in good nick and complete, don't know what type of burner it has got on it, can't see from picture. These can be picked up for less than €12 on a good day. Hi, Terry, Looks like your original silent burner was a victim of underburn, eh? Sorry to see that. Hopefully, a replacement will come along, one of these days, and you can have the best of both worlds: roarer AND silent!! 8) What fuel did you burn in your Ignus? I've read that they are supposed to burn a Naptha type fuel, but also that others have used kerosene in them. Being so small, I wonder if kero might be a better option? I don't know. Did you use Panel Wipe, or kero? Well done on the roarer flame spreader, too. Looks like a nice, steady flame, and I'll bet it works well, too. Thanks for sharing this fettle, and God Bless! Hi Mark. It was running on Panel Wipe. The label on the can says "Contains Naptha, N-Hexane". I've not tried kerosene in it. I've now seen enough roarer versions for sale on the French Ebay site to suggest that they were available as silent or roarer. The kettle is a Sirram, shown here - Link Best wishes, Terry
