Evening all, found this forum whilst researching some old paraffin stoves I've had a while.

Apart from the cup/diffuser on the Governor what else are they missing? I have the top rings for both, the Croslac one is 1942 or 43 dated with crows foot stamp, t'other I haven't found anything yet. Also would they have a model number or are they just known by the manufacturer name?

Does that not say Crossland? Try looking in the Stove Reference Gallery for model numbers etc.

The Governor is missing both inner and outer burner caps. The other one is missing its flame ring.

Welcome to CCS by the way. Durham is dangerously close to Stove HQ...

    Welcome GJ.

The Croslac - made by Crossland Co. - with the 'roarer' - type burner needs a flame-spreader - you'll see lots of examples in the Stove Reference Gallery on a similar stove pattern - look up 'Sweden', 'Primus', 'Primus No.1'.

The Governor has a 'silent' burner and takes an inner and an outer cap - Stove Ref Gallery again, 'Primus No.5'.

I don't believe either has a stove number (ready to be corrected anybody) but would be referred to by their fuel tank capacity as '2-pinters'.

ah many thanks for that David and John,
So where is stove HQ then? I live further into the north pennines, but as people wouldn't know how to pronounce the village I live in, I bunged Durham up ;)

hussah! pesky net's let me back on again.

John are the Primus 1 and 5 the equivalent for spares for my 2, 2 pinters or is it going to be a case of measuring up?
The croslac has been through the wars (literally), the filler neck has been soldered at some point as has the rising tube at the base and the fuel tank is well worn, the governor cleaned up ok mind.

A match for pump cup washers, heat-proof washers between burner and priming cup and non-return valve sealing 'pip' but some variations on tank filler cap washer pattern depending on date-related pattern of Primus filler cap (some with built-in air screw).

CCS sponsors Base Camp or Fettle Box will sort you out with the right parts.
