Hello everyone, I have a few of the old stoves that I have started to reuse when I was in scouts in the 60's... now im starting another hobby, like I need another one, I just have many interests in life and this one seems to warm me up a bit more than the others...lol... just need some help on parts and starting to collect old vintage stoves that I can also use in the field...I have the Svea 123 and 123R, Trangia stove, Whisperlite, Rucas (refurbished ultralight compact alcohol stove) if you have not seen the Rucas in action you need to, for $20.00 you cannot go wrong...puts out a lot of heat and super lite... and the firebox stove...yes I know Im' in the bush a lot...btw my 123R does not stay lit...fuel cap seal seems soft, I may need a new graphite seal as mine is worn when I took it out...hope you guys and gals can help...just ran into this forum when I did a search...also just bought an Optimus 8R this weekend... thanks, Gary

Hi, Gary, Welcome to CCS!! Look in the "Trading Post", under "members Services", for TrojanDog. He offers some excellent graphite sheets, which keys you repack your spindles. Works great, great prices, and Terry is very fast in the shipping. Works wonderfully, and with Terry's sheets, you can repack lots of different size spindle nuts!! Good luck, & God Bless! same here..i was looking for a Classic Stove to take to the BWCA just for fun and ended up with a shelf load! i have posted a few photos of my Borde in action up on Lac LaCroix and a 99 in Snow Bay,if you know where those are--sorry-- at some point we need to get enough local stovies in one spot for a meet and burn some stoves for photos on CCS.
As to the 123R issue. An easy way to trouble shoot potential cap problems to is to swap them between the 123, 123R and 8R. (a former Minnesotan)
