Hi stovies, I have acquired a Coleman 3025 Propane Mountain stove. The stove runs well on Propane from simmer to high. The stove produces I think 8000 btus or 2015 kcal. It's not a supper power house but is very good if you want a simple camp stove. This stove can be used with both the 14.2 ounce or the 16.4 ounce Propane fuel canisters. It's simple with not much to go wrong, compact and it works pretty good. Yes this stove has been posted the stove reference gallery under Coleman, but there were not flame shots. Enjoy. Cheers, Norman
Nice, Norman! Does the fuel bottle sit upright while in use? I was wondering what the wire contraption does. sam
It resembles a Coleman Peak 1 Apex, which leads me to suppose it should have the Apex's bolt-on foldable feet. I've run an Apex successfully as a gassie on butane, so no surprises to see that variant, although I'd no idea they'd made it. My guess is the propane bottle's laid horizontally, with the wire contraption clipped over the gas bottle neck to act as a steady and stop the bottle rolling about. John
Yes, I've seen these very version with feet on them while I was looking for Apex versions. Seems like if I remember correctly there is a vent underneath, center of the burner. I suspected the wire contraption as much. Would like to see it in action. sam
Hi Sam, The wire contraption is to hold the propane bottle in an angled position and in this position it only runs on the vapor side of the fuel bottle. It does fold up to make it more compact as can be seen. Hi John, You are correct because it is very similar to the APEX stove, but it only runs on propane. It was my bad for not showing the bottom of the stove, so please accept my apology for not being very thorough. The Mountain stove only has rubber feet that don't adjust. So you need to find a fairly level area to use the stove. With it's low profile the stove is quite stable and will take large pot and pans. I hope this helps. Cheers, Norman
I believe the Apex-style foldable feet were sold separately as an extra, back when this particular stove was marketed.
Thx Normon, I have the silver version (older?, early mid 90s?) of basically or exactly the same stove in it's box, model 5450A700 aka 5450 Low Profile Propane Stove. Mine is packaged/promoted (like many) w/their logo "UltraLight Gear" (yeah right) it does say campstove but w/no indicator of mountain or backpack on stove or it's box. As you said spec is 8000 BTU, shown w/16.4 oz coleman fat tank said to run 2.75 hrs on high. No indicator of feet here but also it's w/o instructions, new it may have included a baggy w/ 3 screw-on feet. [edit or I'll +1 w/ what itchy posted, while I typed, feet were maybe offered as option]. Mine, like yours, has the 3 holes to accommodate feet. I have seen those bolt-on feet (have also seen them riveted onto some Apex 2s) thx omc
Hi OMC, You might still be able to find these feet on the Coleman site. They do still provide some parts for the older stoves and lanterns. I did find the fold up feet on Old Coleman Parts. Here's the link. It looks like Mike has quite a few to offer. http://www.oldcolemanparts.com/product.php?productid=1295 As can be seen one of the feet is adjustable for leveling purposes. I think I will get some for my stove because it would be a very nice option. Also you will notice these feet are for the 450 liquid fuel stove, but these feet will work on the 3025. Let's face it these stoves have the same frame. The only real difference is the valve assembly and the 450 runs on Coleman fuel and kerosene if you have the kerosene jet. Cheers, Norman
I used to have this stove. It was a tawny brown color instead of black, and so a different model. I foolishly got rid of it. I know where it is, and I've tried to reacquire it, but the guy won't sell it back to me. Anyway, the one I used to have, which was identical except for the color and the model number, had the folding feet just like the apex stoves.
