Anyone one out there able to help decipher the Cyrillic legends on this burner? The burner here is on a well worn Latvian made stove from the 1930s. But I suspect the burner itself may be a later substitute of Russian origin as it is the only component using Cyrillic script. Does deciphering the Cyrillic help give any more clues?
The only characters I can pick out are "CCCP" for the old Soviet Union which was formed in 1922. What follows here is a quote from an on line encyclopedia: The whols story can be found here Latvia
Been sent a really helpful translation and explanation by Virginijus: " There is normal russian burner, used on most russian made stoves. Writings says CCCP ТУЛА (USSR TULA- country and city) ШТАМП (ShTAMP- plant) I suspect it is later replacement on your stove."
Hi, I was told some time ago that taking stoves to Tula was the same as "taking coals to Newcastle" The city of Tula has a long tradition of armament, stove and samovar manufacture. Best Regards, Kerophile.
