I was watching that and hoping to snipe it - I'd guess that about 42 others would be doing the same.

I think I recognise the current high bidder........ but I didn't think he was in the UK.....

I think that sometimes shinning a spotlight on such ebay listings creates more of a negative result than a positive one. For those who are watching the item it just means that they are now much less likely to add same to their collection. For those not watching the item, well, they haven't missed a thing. For those who wish to bring such an item to the attention of the membership for educational purposes I would suggest putting it into your ebay watch list and, once the auction is over, THEN present it to the membership. This will hopefully avoid stepping on any toes. [-X :( :( [-o< :-$

I haven't bid on any stoves for a couple of years, but I always have my opinions about auctions. They are auctions. They are open to all, and nobody's toes are stepped on when anybody else bids. But that's just my two bits worth.
    Ebay's listings are not secrets.

Unless you've been looking for such an item and missed the listing. Then you might be very appreciative of the sharing?

Its all public and its all fair. I've watched items only to have the listing posted here. Not everyone knows my eBay ID nor do I know many members ID. So what? Life goes on.

There is no place for "Hard Feelings" in this - Ebay is a public auction site - and while I might mutter "Damn" under my breath - I might equally well say "Thank you for brining that to my attention".

    All's fair - no complaints.

If you get a big spender making an early bid, I think some potential bidders just don't bother bidding, they think "whats the point, I won't win"

When I sold my Campus 3, I had 90+ people watching, then a bid of ?100 from a big spender, over the next few days, more and more stopped watching the sale. I can't moan though, I got my ?100 and the stove only cost me ?10, so a good return.

I still play the numbers game, bid low often enough, and you get what you want in the end 8)

I'll get a Borde, but won't pay more than ?30, it will happen one day ;)

My Borde arrived in today's mail. I won it on Ebay for $83 including postage. A bit more than I typically spend on a stove, but getting a Borde for under $100 seems like a good deal. Once I figure out how to light it I'll post photos with the Sigg Tourist kit made for the borde. The part about holding it when lit scares me a bit.

I have two Bordes now, one was brand new from Switzerland for just under ?58.00 and the other was free from a friend in Switzerland. :)
I am not really bothered about folks putting links on here for eBay stuff but I think it's better not to until it has ended as all it does is push for price up and makes my hobby more expensive.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Alan :)
