This stove arrived in the mail today from Jodhpur, India. It was a month in the mail and I'd forgotten all about it. When I took off the cap to fill it with alcohol I noticed the ladle used for priming the stove with fuel pulled from the tank. Just pour it over the center of the burner and away you go. These photos were taken as the stove came straight from the box. No fettling what-so-ever.
Thank you for posting, it's impressive, I find it very interesting. I searched Rauco to see what pops, i got nothing (maybe I need to improve my CCS searching). SO, IF this stove is "a first" congrats on that score and same goes for your popcorn test! Seems obvious it's ultra-reliable and "looks like" by-design it's field serviceable as i note the thumb screw cap at bottom of burner. If after others also show interest I would eventually like to hear back "approx" dimensions (/capacity), not getting overly-technical it's just I've no idea re a Rauco and w/o some scale in images and I've no idea re the size you are presenting here. Or what models it might closely resemble. I DO know "I like it!" thx omc
I know thats constructions from EMES 2 service is not needed - dismantling is not possible. This kinds of burner - is very effective in a minimal amount of fuel i am setting very small flame - but heat is strong
Priming is very like the Punker marine stoves. I've got a Punker single burner that I like to use in my Van and in my wall tent. I like alcohol stoves becaus they're quiet and simple. Gerry
Hi Ben and all, Not disputing India, Germany or similar punker marine. Gioergi just presented a quite similar Polish EMES stove. Ross had a EMES Pelikan on his 2010 stove list. I'm not suggesting it is Polish, just that they're similar as mentioned above. I may be wrong but stoves like this Rauco and Gieorgi's Pelikan (link below) seem to defy the category: gravity fed alcohol stoves. It for me, is what I mainly found interesting. I've maybe seen similar examples (fuel lower than burner) but I can't link to anything. I like but can only wonder why the (brass?) Rauco tank is slightly lower and closer to the burner (vs the Pelikan), to create pressure or for a smaller foot print maybe. https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/29292 thx again all omc
after my investigations... This idea's had something from France https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/24324 https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/9129 https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/9097 https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/708
