    Hello,
I was wondering if someone could tell me what is new and different about the Omnifuel such that it has a 2nd generation moniker attached to its name. I read a website article mentioning that it has a feature allowing its legs to snap into place when opened and it can become more compact when folded. When I compare the weight of the original Omnifuel at 495g to the Omnifuel II at 350g, I'm left thinking there are more changes made than just some snapping legs. Does anyone know if it is made more cheaply? Is it a size thing? The Omnilite TI weighs 340g. So is the Omnifuel II the same size as the smaller Omnilite TI, but weighs 10g more because of the lack of titanium? Can anyone fill me in on this?

    Thanks

Here is the info about the new Omnifuel 2:

Looks that they are using Omnilite structure in new Omnifuel and amount of material is reduced into minimum. Flame spreader mount looks quite innovative and makes jet change more easy :content: .

I afraid that stove is coming quite flimsy and cannot handle heavy pots like Original version or current version. Original Omnifuel can easily support 3-4 ltr. pot :D/ . Looks that for new version 2 ltr. pot might be maximum  .

Edit: There is no silent burner caps. :rage:

At Mountain Equipment Co-op (Canada's version of REI) they no longer sell the Omnifuel. They have a listing for the Omnilite TI as a special order item, and they have an option to pre-order an Omnifuel II. It looks like the full size Omnifuel stoves are being phased out. It's odd, though, that I see no mention of the Omnifuel II on primuscamping.com
I already own an Omnilite TI, and I also own a Multifuel EX (which is the same as the Omnifuel, but without the throttle control at the burner). But for fear of a great quality stove being replaced by an inferior model, I just last night bought an Omnifuel. It's interesting how the jet sizes differ between the three stoves.

On Primus website the product and description was changed to the new Omnifuel 2, and is available for shopping :

The picture there seems a little bit strange, with the valve wire handle missing. What I like though is that the burner valve tube is now fixed against rotating in the stove body, because the pass through hole is exactly the same size as tube. (How I hate that rotation in my Omnifuel).

Also they uploaded a nice short video, in which the new Omnifuel is displayed in what appears to be a prototyping laboratory :

I like that the burner plate is held on by a spring. Will it stay there is one question. The jets storing on the leg is smart too.
