    Hi,
I have some Primus 1 and 5 stoves that the Scouts use, they all came with Pilot Lighters but one is missing it's wick inside. Could someone tell me what materials are suitable to use as the wick? I looks like the others have some sort of asbestos cloth inside of them but not sure.

    Thanks

I just used a bit of flat hurricane lamp wick in mine. It seems to work fine.

Thanks, I have an old hurricane lamp in the shed so could probably snip a bit off.

Doesnt cotton twine/rope and meths work? Check the ultralite meths stoves....they wrap something around them that they would soak with meths for the preheat...

Fabric of any sort is not necessary on the pilot light, pilot light shown is from a Radius stove, uses Brass mesh, and yes, it works satisfactory.
