I just won this on eBay and the only thing I could find on the Internet is an advertisement from 1888 does anyone have any information on this manufacture? HOUCHIN M'F'G. CO. NEW YORK
Thank you so much that looks like the one although I would love to have his trivet since I do not have one
That's interesting, to me it looked like a holder\snuffer for shoe polish. There are still some old permanent shoe polish stands around NYC. I did remember seeing the shoe polish guy near a court house drop a tin of shoe polish inside a brass holder than looks almost exactly like that, then after a few seconds of burning would snuff it out with the cover, then take the nice hot polish and get to work on someones shoes.
Hi, markdam, Good job on scoring that little Meths burner. I love those old things, and have a small collection of them, each one with it's own personality, and attraction. Thanks for sharing your little stove with us, and maybe you can cobble together a trivet stand, which copies the one that Shagratork shows with his specimen of this stove. Good luck, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
