This comprehensive write-up on his Sirram Aristocrat by Terry (Trojandog) brings out all the points I could on this example of the Sirram 'Citizen'. A bit of a recap of Terry's research is permissable I think though:- Democrat in tin plate Citizen (aluminium) Aristocrat in copper, pot inner tinned and wire handle whipped in cane to insulate it Versions of each in different pot capacities. My Citizen takes a pint, but a 1 1/2 pint version was for sale too. In the Stove Reference Library are the year 1919 patents for the stove complete, the burner, the spirit container and the simmering 'spoon'. I've pictured the main components with their patents - missed out the simmering device because I ran out of printing paper, but the patent for it is HERE The components are thoroughly marked with the patent references Stowage is cleverly managed, with corresponding dimples and bulges in bases to ensure nothing rattles in transit Set up for use, flame on maximum setting ... ... and with simmering 'spoon' regulating device in place

Just getting underway here Got into its stride here It works well. I daresay the 'Democrat' in tin plate could be a rarer find since tinworm must have taken its toll on many. The burners on all three types are brass with a tinplate base and I notice Terry's was holed. Mine's not, but it's a weak spot in what is in every other respect a well thought-out and well-engineered stove. John
That is simply beautiful! I love meths burners, but the "Russian Doll" aspect and simplicity of the engineering is what really gets me. Everything you need in one small package....wish I could find things like that on my side of the pond. Dave
