I found this yesterday at a local antique show. I am familiar with the stove but not the pots. Found one reference on this site to these pots - but pictures only. Are these military or ??. Heavy aluminum and interesting how the bails both swing to lock top and bottom together. The stamping on the bail mount is probably a makers mark and date but couldn't confirm with a few hours searching on the net last night. Any thought's would be appreciated. Will make great cook pots - I will probably set the pots up with a small Trangia alcohol stove as the fuel canisters are pretty expensive.
you have a real find there!.i never have seen anything like that,i wonder if someone brought it back from a trip across the pond years ago. i have that burner head and a few Gaz carts for it but it does not see much use anymore as the new attachment system is better.
I forgot to add that the other post on this site is by Martin T. in Germany titled "Campingaz Stove Box" HERE.
Hello guys, I'm French and I have never seen this kind of box before. One thing almost sure is that it is not military. I spent my childhood and teenage in french garrison cities (during the end of the cold war) and I never saw this. I know a little bit the French army habit and I think the military version would have been with "army green" or no paint at all. One thing to keep in mind for French military stoves, they are almost always buy by the user, issued model is a disposable metal-folding-sheet with alcool tablet you will find in the combat ration meal. The three letters probably refer to the manufacture and 84 to the year of production.
Hello today I found this post with the box it is the 2nd i ever had seen. Now I looked at mine and it is marked with HSZ 83. A Bluet 260 Stove with the oneway 190g butane canisters fit' s perfect in it. It seems that only 2 are known, one in the USA and one in Germany. Are there any new informations about them? Best Regards Martin
Those bail lugs look to be the same as those used on Bundeswehr mess kits...Including the HSZ (manufacturer) and year of manufacture. I'll have to take mine out to confirm.
Martin T. - I found another on a french website. Got no reply on the inquiry. I e-mailed Gaz and got no reply. I should try that again Spork - Definitely contract made. I will have to search the German sites again. I still have mine. And I use it. Very well made
Societé Application des Gaz (Campingaz) was so successful in Germany and Spain in the 70s that the local national exclusive distributors grew up like crazy thanks to the distribution of Camping Gaz equipment. However such growth had not been forecasted by Societé Aplication des Gaz when they first signed the exclusive distribution agreements. Therefore the national distributors, themselves well established local companies in the market of gaz appliances, had a lot of priviledges and among them the right to use the brand Camping Gaz for their own manufactured or procured products, as long as they were sold only in their country. We are talking about times when the Single Market was still not achieved by the European Union (pre-1992) and parallel distribution was very unusual. In the case of Germany, a lot of equipment made by Eastern German (DDR) companies was sold in Western Germany under the brand Camping Gaz by the German distributor. I would bet for HSZ being one of the many small metalurgic companies in semi-rural DDR that did not survive the arrival of market economy. There is plenty of German and Spanish Camping Gaz equipment from the 70s and 80s that was never sold out of those countries.
The limit of 10 minutes for edition expired... I just wanted to correct that HSZ could not be from Eastern Europe as it was selling to the Budeswehr during the Cold War. It had to be a small West German metalurgical company.
