Here's a Primus 71 with the inner pot-rest set (the outer pot is missing). This stove is as old as I am.

    The workings:

I had to make a new wick.

    With the pot rest:

This is the pot-rest set that required the adjustment of one of the rests because it was smaller and shorter than the others:

As there was no outer pot for this kit, I bought a Chinese-made pot set which suits this stove nicely:

I quite like this set up.

    Cheers

At one point this model was available like this without pots so may in fact be 'complete'. There was a pot set on ebay recently - not sure if the shorts or tall. may be worth a look.

If it was the one in Canada, the post was very expensive.

    I'll check.

Tony, perchance have you ever seen the military case for these?
Or were they only for the model #70's Brit stoves.

    @zino13

I have seen the No. 7 case (as described by Kerophile) but they are difficult to get here in Oz.

    Hello Tony,

I have three of these, two shorts and a tall.

Both of my shorts needed the same adjustment that you have shown.

I fail to understand why the rear pot rest was shorter than the other two.

I'd love to hear from anyone who may know, as it has bugged me for some time.

The above taken into account, I still prefer the short to the tall, as there is no likelihood of loosing the pot rest.

There must be a reason, or it would not have been allowed to run through the entire production of these stoves.

As to their efficiency, you are correct. They're sunning wee stoves!!!

I couldn't think why one would want the No 7 case when the offering before us is far superior to that already.

A bit bulkier, granted, but there's an awful lot that can be stashed inside that casing, and the billy and small pan make it well worth the effort.

    Best regards,

    Mike.

Oh yes, I remember the protracted diatribe about Kiwis and sheep with uneven legs.....

To be expected from a nation of flat-earthers.....

But I guess the undying question will be shelved next to the "Bermuda" thing.

Perhaps when they finally track down the Holy Grail.....

Oh no, wait!!! The answer's in Pandora's Box!!!

    Best regards,

    Mike.
