I have one of these and I love it -- and have loved it since I bought it new in 1982(!!!). BUT: I just came back from a trip during which the bottom O-ring on the fuel distributor (the red core piece they call the SafeFill in the manual) crumbled to bits. I'm wondering if you're able to tell the size of that particular O-ring. I think it's 18mm, but I don't know the thickness (I just tried one that turned out to be a little too thick and it wouldn't go into the until without a shove).

    Thanks so much for helping!

5/8" i.d ......3/4" o.d .. Have to stretch it slightly .Works for me.
    At a pinch , I'd use a wrap or 7al of p.t.f.e tape .

You can take it to an auto parts store, ask for fuel resistant orings, and find the size that fits.

I am currently running my 3rd trapper. First was from 1983 too;-) Love this machine!
Normally I lose the O-ring pretty fast, but use the cooker just as fine without one. Just fill it carefully with the stove tilted to almost 80 degrees. Works fine.
Most significant trouble with this stove is the corrosion on the alu parts that the O-ring gets by, and therefore pops out. Also corrosion in the pans was an issue of the oldes model. They got leaky !

If someone kwows an address where I can get a new one of these! Optimus refuses to take them in production again. I asked them. Is someone is going to produce them, please make them from titanium, or make the tricky parts from titanium!

    Cheers, Hubert
