Picked this gem up a few weeks ago. A Coleman 421D Tourist 1965. Made in Canada, like me. There is some oxidation, like me and a few nicks in the paint here and there, like me, but no dents. All and all it's in fine shape for 50 years old. I going to remove the rust. Childhood memories came flooding back when I took it out of the box. Those camping trips were fun times.
What a great find, soo good, it looks pristine. Well done but what to do with it. Fire it up or not. I could not resist it and fire it up, after all the checks of course. It's entirely up to you. Cheers Rob
Yes Robert. To fire or not to fire it up. Big question. So far I've resisted the urge. I'm not sure for how long though.
After 50 years it's a survivor and should probably be kept in it's pristine condition for posterity. That's why I don't buy NOS stoves. I'd fire 'em up for sure so paying the NOS premium is stupid. If you're not the type to collect museum pieces for display only, I'd pass it on to someone who is. You just don't find them like that anymore. Especially with all the paperwork to go with it. Ben
There are only so many of those so pristine, firing it up would be a shame to me. But, that's me. A really nice find!
