This photo was on eBay and I was impressed with the compartmentalized carrying tin. That is the first one I have seen and thought it is very handy looking. Can anyone tell me what is in the small square box next to the burner?

    Would it contain spare parts?

Looks like everything is there except matches.

I am not bidding on it either. Just thought it was a great way to pack the stove without getting the parts all bent and dented.

I plan to take my Optimus 45 camping a couple of times this winter and since it arrived in a cardboard box stuffed with crumpled newspaper I need a way to carry it. I was thinking that one of those padded square fabric lunch carrying bags would work if the burner were wrapped in something soft like a washcloth.

Could it be Meta? I have some in a similar box.
Looks like the windshield is next to the spirit bottle.

I'd lay a pound to apiece of 5h that its a matchbox. As to what it might contain?

    Well ...

I need a better computer monitor. Now it does look like a match box.

I was looking for a box for my 00 that came wrapped in newspaper and found an endless supply at the thrift store. Christmas candy and shortbread tins ! They come in myriad sizes and shapes and are made of much sturdier material than the original stove tins. Wipe the impossibly maudlin winter scenes off with acetone, spray on a coat of whatever Manly color suits you and toss in the stove and bits. All for less than a dollar.

    Now there's a thing.
I was down in the garage a few weeks ago, playing with some stoves   (actually trying out me new tripod with some stove photos,  ) when the eldest goes a rummaging in the dark recesses where the junk resides.

"Dad" she say, as she reappears from the gloom, "you could use this tin for one of your stoves."
    "Clever girl" says I

    Maudlin Christmas scene indeed.
I like the little squirrel. Just need to get some thin foam to pack the bottom and sides. The great thing is, I can leave the burner attached whilst in the tin. Should even have space for a tin of meths, and a few tools too. :)
Not exactly light weight backpacking material, but ideal for car camping.

    Enjoy the Flame

p.s. The tin originally housed a Christmas cake, which was too rich in taste for my tooth. Next year, I'll be looking for a tin to house the silent burner #45.

Maybe someone will send me a fruit cake for christmas with a nice tin. Then I will have a box for my stove and something to snack on.

    Love the Red Squirrel.
In the UK it is being driven towards extinction by the imported American Grey Squirrel. |imgRemoved|

The big Danish Butter Cookie tins you get around xmas time, are about the same size as my round Optimus tin

Useful stainless steel tins available from you know who next Monday.

Look fine for small stoves, food etc., etc.

No need to buy a cake

By the way Trevor Grey Squirrels also affect bird populations by eating their eggs. They are getting numerous round here as well. A friend has a trap which we borrow occasionally, and between us we have seen off about a dozen of the buggers. Officially now classed as vermin in the UK, so when trapped you are required to terminate the little pest. 8)
