Here in Ontario, I get my white gas (Coleman brand) in 1 US gallon containers at Canadian Tire for $19.99CAD and K1 kerosene for $14.99, the local Walmarts are about a dollar cheaper.
It seems the number of UK stockists of Aspen4 is starting to increase. I just checked the web list and found now there is one only ~3miles away. The nearest used to be 10 miles and only a year or so before that about 20 miles. A much more satisfactory distance! For North London / Hertfordshire area see The Dutch Nursery at Brookmans Park. I suspect the price is set nationally as what I paid for 5L matched what is stated on Aspen's web site. see www.aspenfuel.co.uk for dealer locations and prices
Ace hardware carries Coleman camp fuel for 14.99 a us gallon. Meth chemists have curtailed the local supply.
Wow!!! Just went to Academy. looked down and there they were. 5 one gallon cans of crown camp fuel for 7.99 a gallon. Only picked up 3 and left 2 for someone else. Just got 2 from ace hardware for 14.99 and thought they were the deal. Beats 5.99 a quart at wal-mart. Felt weird. Bought the fuel, a fire starter and some ammo for my .223. Was afraid they would think I was a terrorist. Glad I didn't need a remote car and a couple of cell phones.
Add a six-pack to that cart and no one would suspect terrorism. Just an all American boy picking up the essentials. Ben
I just purchased a couple gallons of Coleman fuel at Ace Hardware for $14.95 a gallon here in N.C. Kerosene (the red stuff) is about $4.00 a gallon locally, gasoline around $2.00 and non ethanol about $3.25 a gallon.
Near Raleigh NC the Sheetz gas stations have kerosene pumps, clear K-1, well under $4, might be closer to $3 a US gallon right now. Coleman gas at the Walmart, $13 a gallon. I also have a local Exxon station selling non ethanol gas which I use in all my small engines, mower, chain saw, blower, outboard, etc., about $3.30 a gallon. The Sheetz in Lancaster PA where I used to live carry the K-1 pumps as well.
Parker's Garage in Ditton Priors (Shropshire UK) kerosene 62p per litre at the pump (£2.82 UK gallon)
The Sussex petrol stations I listed in my post that opened this thread, are now selling kerosene on pump at 49.9p per litre. Terry
Well done on all of this @Trojandog , Terry you've done a cracking job with all of this fuel searching mate. I always keep an eye out for reduced "Barbecue lighting fluid" I've been using this as a form of paraffin for many years now and picked my latest batch from wicks for 0.29p per ltr I brought 32 ltrs. I've been using this in my stoves and lamps with no problems for the last five years with no problems. Si

I stopped at a local bulk oil and fuel distributor today to fill up my 5 gallon can today. Exactly 5 US gallons of 1K water clear kerosene cost me $20.68 USD. Now, I wish I could find a bulk priced alternative to Coleman Camp Fuel.
On the left coast, in the San Francisco bay area, there are some Rotten Robbie gas stations selling K-1 at the pump for US $ 2.19 per US gallon. I stop at the Salinas station when passing thru, it's right off HWY 101..
Today I bought 10 liter (=2,64 US gallons?) of kerosene from Puuilo( http://www.puuilo.fi/epages/puuilo....Products/6419715610109&ViewAction=ViewProduct ) for 20 eur. Not very cheap compared to what 'Rhubarb' paid. Some places 10 liter of kerosene here costs 30-35 eur.
I hope it's not a silly question when discussing fuel but if I stocked up would it last for a long period and still be as good when used? Would it do to keep it in the original jar or maybe it would be better in another container? Thanks for the help, Mark
Hi Mark, most fuels will keep well in their original containers. However, it may sometimes be a good idea to use better stuff. I got 3 plastic 5liter drums panel wipe, and I poured most of it in metal bottles (SIGG, MSR etc.). This has more to do with safety than anything else. Today, I filled 2 drums with a total of 42.85liters of paraffin, and this will go into 1liter plastic bottles previously used for Methyl-Ethyl-Ketone (I think it is also known as Butanon), a dissolvent/degreaser. Partly safety, partly because it simply is handier to carry with me! Best regards, Wim PS., the paraffin was .595€/liter. It will even drop more in price end of the week. It used to be .85€/liter 2 years ago.......
The only fuel that will go off is standard unleaded gasoline, which you shouldn't be using in a stove anyway. Coleman Fuel/Panel Wipe/Aspen 4 will last for years, as will kerosene/paraffin. Panel Wipe I keep in it's original 5 litre tin cans. The Kerosene that I use is my heating oil. I syphon it from my bulk tank into 20 litre plastic containers, then pour into an old but sound Esso Blue 5 gallon dispenser with tap. This I use to fill 2 litre PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) drinks bottles such as coke bottles, which are easy to handle. Don't use HDPE containers, such as 4 pint milk containers - the fuel will leach through. I've used 30 year old paraffin with no issues. I just got a quote from Boilerjuice to top up my heating tank with Kerosene - 22p a litre . Terry
