Well this is my first time posting on here. I got this stove at an antique shop for $20. I put a new cap washer on it and a flame spreader. Filled it up, primed it and it fired right up. going to be a good little stove I'm thinking. Scott
This looks like a 1950's model, well spotted for $20.00. I must admit, I like these ones with the tank engraving. Cheers Simon Foxxx
Hi Cooter, welcome to CCS. You have a very nice Op.80 there. I think you stove is very similar to this one: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/optimus-no-80-from-late-50s-early-60s.10881/ If you compare the tank markings on the side of the tank, there is a fair gap between the No.80 and the curve near the base of the tank. If so, I believe that your stove dates from the late 1950s/ early 1960s The Mid- 1950s version of the Op. 80 which I also have has the Op.80 side marking, positioned lower on the tank, very near the lower curve: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/optimus-no-80-from-mid-1950s-i-believe.10876/ Let this be a warning to you... Collecting stoves ends up with grown men studying tank engraving and worrying about when particular models were made.....! Best Refards, Kerophile.
thanks. the mess kit looks pretty good. I have an us army stainless mess kit I think will work good. if not I might have to give that Czech pot set a try
