This No.126 stove with 2¼ pts or 1.3 litre content is the biggest collapsible stove of the Svea range. The colourful tin indicates a pre-war vintage; the meth's tin should be a taller model but I am not complaining. Pricker No.970 and Jet wrench No.980. Spirit can No.869 which should be the taller No.866. Split windshield No.744
Nice! I got one of these recently after waiting patiently for years. I think this is the first generation of grapical tins from Svea after the plain tinned ones.
Well then, Ross, they sure stepped in with an abundance of colours! The picnic scene shows bicycles with a 20's style of handlebars - putting those at ease who did not have a camel. The tin is identical to that of the Optimus 1-S, another pointer to the late 20's and 30's methinks. Regards, Mike
I see! Toshiaki's 126 http://www2u.biglobe.ne.jp/~opt00l/gsvea126.htm]here[/url] shows the correct vintage spirit-can. (scroll down to second 126) My version has the same windshield as his but a different spirit-can. Possibly mine is wrong but it's what came with it when I bought it. The wrench is no:989 Some close ups of the tin;
Could it be that Toshiaki has an earlier, and you the earliest version? After all, the technology of stove-making was already established, but the making of accesories did show progress and change. The non-painted tins, were they outfitted with soldered cans or containers? By the way, what a nice collection there in Japan! Cheers, Mike
I'll have to check the catalogues re the spirit-cans. My early ones have bottles including a nice one with SVEA moulded into the glass.
Hi @Stovost , pan-holders or stove grates were seldom part of stove outfits in a "tin" . Because of their large diameter, pan-holders would dictate the size of the tin and defeat the object of having a compact outfit. https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/svea-126l.4010/ For most users, a pan- ring isn't essential for a three-legged stove, but a few manufacturers managed to fit one in their tin: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/parasene-collapsible-stove.4755/ Best Regards, Kerophile.
Gents, can I ask you a question about the Svea 126, please? - What is the dimensions of the burner head, is it the 1/2 pint kind, or the 2 pint kind, in terms of size and thread where the riser tube connects to the tank? Cheers, T
Hi, the burner of a Svea 126 stove is the same as on 1.75/2 pint fuel capacity stoves: Svea 126L Best Regards, Kerophile.
