Hello, I have a Trangia X2 stove which is based around the Primus Omnifuel. As the X2 only has a flame adjustment at the canister/fuel bottle while the Omnifuel has the additional spindle valve at the burner, I was wondering if an Omnifuel spindle would fit on the X2? I had a quick experiment with my Omnilite and that spindle doesn't work with the X2. But if the Omnifuel (the original stove rather than the smaller MK.2 stove, I'm imagining) spindle did work, then that would make my X2 better for fine adjustments like simmering. Mark
Thank you for the reply and link, Juergen. I see from reading there that Ian Johnston had the very same idea and was told no from Primus themselves. I knew the Omnilite spindle didn't work (although it screwed in perfectly to the X2 and had all the appearances of being a success, the fuel flow was always on even when I tightened the spindle fully clockwise shut) but I'm disappointed that the Omnifuel spindle won't work either. It's a very expensive item for what it is, I feel. Grand for horsing on to boil water, sure, but a poor set-up indeed for simmering and quickly needed fine adjustments while trying to cook with it. As an X2 user, I feel Primus and Trangia have not reached this stove's full potential by leaving out an adjustment at the burner. Mark
Mark, why don't you just use your Omnilite instead like I do? https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/primus-omnilite-ti-for-trangia.26152/ juergen
That looks like a really good idea, Juergen. I'll try that out later with my Trangia 25 cookset! Mark
This Optimus adapter also can be used to install normal Omnifuel burner (most probably it works for Omnilite also) to Trangia: https://www.optimusstoves.com/us/us/111-8016303-optimus-trangia-adapter
