I used a brace and bit for woodwork. Select a bit which has it's outer "teeth" at the wanted outer washer diameter. Cut the lead sheet on a wooden block. The worm of the bit starts the centre hole in the lead and then bites into the wood. Proceed until the teeth have cut through the lead and it has become a disc with an undersize centre hole. Use undersize hole as the centre for a drill matching the inner diameter of the washer. If you find it difficult to hold the washer for drilling don't allow the bit to cut all the way through the sheet. It can scribe the outer diameter for you and you can cut it out with scissors when the centre hole is done.
@n2666s Are you sorted out now? You kind of lost me with the joint compound, sheets of lead and multiple punches but it's possible I have a Opti 45 size lead washer. They come in a 2 pack and I don't remember using the second one. Let me know and I'll have a look. Ray

@exeter_yak told me a simple way to ensure concentric washers. It requires a lathe, or a makeshift method. Make a 'washer' with a step. Outside diameter is the outside of the washer. Add a step that is the inside diameter. After cutting/punching the inside diameter, place this 'washer' in the inside hole and either punch (aligned by the outside of the 'washer') or cut with scissors (aligned by the outside of the 'washer'). You could do the same thing with the right piece of a dowel and a washer/old gasket of the right size.
Actually, a pair of sturdy shears will easily cut the outside edge of the gasket with little distortion. I have had little trouble using an electric drill to make the center hole, just use light pressure.
@Sparky I mentioned a few post ago to sandwich the material between two flats of wood so it takes care of that problem.
One thing about having a bunch of classic stoves laying around, in the shop, basement, etc.-- doesn't matter how long the mail takes! Just pull out a different stove in the meantime....
Tony, found fine lead wire BUT the supplier <McMaster Carr> will only sell an 82 ft 5 Lb roll and at 42$ + shipping totaling nearly 80$ was out of my price range Ray, many thanks for the offer but the eagerly awaited goodie bag from our dear Fettlebox friend just came in ; which places me in a dilemma Ed, so true, now that she is finally running well <for now> with the ugly makeshift washer; do I replace it with one of the lovely new ones from Fettlebox ,

JonD, Darn; that is a great idea I like it but haven't used my brace and bit for years though; do have one in my stash but will have to check through the bits and see what sizes are still with me
and my goodies came in from the UK putting my field made ones to shame when they are side by side the home made one installed is working BUT for how long; think best just to remove it when it has a hint of a hiccuph and put in the lovely one from Fettle box good to know there are options for a field type repair that have been shared if don't have the correct one; BIG thanks to all
OK she hiccuped with my home made lead washer <lost pressure after a 5-6 minutes> so out came the ugly home made one and in went the pretty new washer from fettle box to make this mornings porridge about a 45 minute process with simmer rings there are times when wish she had a regulated burner but she held pressure all the time just had to use simmer rings to avoid scorching!
Nice looking flame. You know you can lower the flame by slowly releasing some air from the pressure bleed screw, right? Having done that, a simmer ring is still nice for, well, simmering. ....Arch
Arch; thanks bunches, this Geniol burner is very finicky; one I had picked up quite a few years ago but when I try to turn down bleed screw to relieve pressure to simmer she wants to blow yellow flameand the burner is also very hot; can scorch the bottom of the porridge quickly great for making a pot of coffee but for slow cooking/simmering not a pretty sight; did notice the opening for the jet is quite large, pricker is pretty loose probably worn over the years; maybe a smaller jet might help , but for now doing well with TWO simmer rings for slow cooking
