My google and archive searches are failing me.

I'm looking to buy some spare non-pump Svea 123 fuel caps.

I've found one source that has the pump compatible ones but no non-pump ones.

A&H appears to no longer stock them. Nothing on the Optimus/Katadyn site.

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

I do not know of a commercial source for them, though I think there may be.
The 123R is still available though I think the spares will be expensive.

Is the fuel cap on the 123R different from the earlier 123?

Threads of the cap to the tank are the same although the finish is slightly different. image.jpg

I was sloppy in my post.

    I meant a 123R. :(

    Same question though.

    Hi Pinnah

I should have mentioned the cap on the left is from a 123. The right is from a 123R. An Optimus 8R & Optimus 80 caps are also interchangeable.

The interchangeability discussion is a great help and confirms what I suspected.

But I'm still at a loss on where to find replacements. Just got my daughter a new 123R and want to get a spare cap for her repair kit.

So the Optimus Mini-Pump required a proprietary cap to work with a 123, 123R or 8R?
I never got one since I figured '...if I wanted a pressurized stove I'd have gotten a Peak One.' Also I couldn't bear the idea of cutting a hole in my windscreen.

That's more than I paid for my first SVEA 123 in 1970, $8.95 USD!

There's really no need to cut a hole in your windscreen. The pump is only "necessary" to get the stove started in cold weather. Once it gets going, and it heats up, you don't need to pump anymore. Pump with the screen off then put it back on.

Please beware non-standard fuel tank caps! I tried a pump cap on my Sievert SVEA 123 only to discover the thread on the cap did not quite fit the tank thread. Flames about three feet high on start up. I needed to use my carbon dioxide fire extinguiseher to blow out the fire. Best to test by immersion in hot water when using a different cap for the first time.

    Cheers

    @SimonThanks for the heads up.
I'm OK for fuel caps on my gas stoves. But spares are worth double their weight in gold when you need them.
My Svea 123R has a cap, my new-to-me Arara 37 has a cap. I tried swapping them around... The diameter was almost the same, but the threading was totally different. And my original Svea 123 has been hiding since before my last campout. Still shy I guess.
    Cheers,
    Brian

Simon, was this an off brand, or Optimus?

It took me using a non-mobile browser to avoid mobile redirects, but I was finally able to find the Katadyn US contact page (instead of the German one that I was getting redirected to).

By way of reminder, Katadyn now owns Optimus who purchased Svea. Phew.

Anyway, spare caps can be ordered directly from Katadyn for $6 per. Contact info is here.

    Happy days.

    Hiya Snow Camper,
I have to say it was not an original Optimus or Sievert part. More recently, I found the rubber seal on the same part had disintegrated on storage for about 6 months (screwed onto the tank with fuel in it). Not good, the whole rubber seal was totally unsuitable for hydrocarbon fuels.

I replaced all seals on my 3 pump caps from this supplier, with Viton seals from The Fettlebox.

    Cheers
