hello folks, just joined up and I have a query about my Camping Gaz S200 which I believe is from the mid to late 1960's....can anyone out there pls advise me on exactly when this model was introduced ?
Welcome to CCS @gaz user. I couldn't give you an exact year but this trio spanned from 1950 (Bleuet on the left) through early 60's (Super Bleuet centre) up to 1980's (Super Bleuet right). Here's an advert from 1961. The S200 pattern - wire bails to secure the catridge rather than the body - was likely a 1980's successor to the later Super Bleuet. John
I had a Bleuet S200, with wire cartridge holder bought in 1974. Such a stove was available in the 1970's in NZ. Simon Foxxx New Zealand
My very first camping stove, also using the wire cartridge holder must date back to at least the early '70s. I can't remember if I bought a new or second hand one but I still have it! Best regards, Wim
I got an S200 with the wire cartridge holder for my 16 th birthday in 1966. The burner was a push fit onto the gas tube (don't know the correct name). Later models were threaded It worked faultlessly, its last major backpacking trip was around the Highlands in 2000, then it was relegated to car-borne camping By then I had been made redundant and was very short of money, so had to sell it along with a load of other gear at a car boot sale. There was nothing like the large number of outdoor gear retailers then, so as my Dad smoked, like much of the population, we got it with Embassy cigarette coupons. I'd had my eye on it in the catalogue for months beforehand, so presumably it had been available since 1964 or 1965 at least.
Thank you for the poster/advert sheet! I've just been gifted the family stove which we used during my childhood, which had been bought by my grandfather when my day was small. I have now been able to identify it as a confort burner. The stove isn't in bad condition but the 'suitcase' is a bit on the corroded side, and I'm going to clean it up and use it when camping with my son. The only problem is that when it was lent out to a family friend the input valve at the bottom of the case has been lost, along with the regulator an hose. the hose and regulator I can find easy enough, but I need to replace the input piece. Now I know what the stove is this will be much easier....
