Hi, Just out of curiosity - does anyone happen to know how many distinct models have been made carrying the Manaslu name? I only know of six models (All featured in the reference gallery, btw) - are there more? Manaslu 96 - small-ish, but with same burner as 00, so less parts to lose. (I got one - love it!) Manaslu 121 - 00 size, 00 burner. Manaslu 126 - Optimus 45-size, 00 burner. From what I can tell online, the above three are the only ones manufactured today. Additionally: Hope Manaslu 160 - Optimus 8R clone. Hope Manaslu 300 - Coleman 520 clone. Hope Manaslu 350 - Phoebus 625 clone. Finally, would anyone happen to know if Manaslu stoves have been manufactured by the same company since the beginning, or if the brand has changed hands / laid dormant / been resurrected / whatever? (The 'Hope' prefix on the currently not-in-production models makes one wonder...)
Manaslu is, Iizuka sporting goods manufacturing Co., Ltd. was the brand with a "Hope" "Hope Manaslu", Iizuka sporting goods manufacturing is changing its name to Hope, after the company dissolution has been manufactured in Yoshikawa Works, Star Shoji is performing distributors.
Good Evening, Yosh, Many thanks for the update and report on the Manaslu stoves! Does this mean that all models will once again be available for purchase, by those of us who would love to have them?! I would very much like to add a Manaslu 121 to my excellent Manaslu 96 Thanks, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
@YOSH - Thank you! So, if I understand you correctly (English is not my first language - and I guess not yours, either - so easy to misunderstand!) a) Today, Manaslu stoves are distributed by Star Shoji. b) Today, Manaslu stoves are made in Yoshikawa Works. c) Earlier, stoves were called Hope Manaslu. They were made for (or by?) Iizuka Sporting Goods Mfg. Co., Ltd. I love my Manaslu 96 stove and would really like to find out a little more about the company - but as information in English is hard to come by and my Japanese is non-existent, it is not easy!
a)Yes! b)Yes!! c)Yes!!! This blog was well written about Manaslu. But in Japanese only. http://slowhands.naturum.ne.jp/e704277.html
@YOSH - Thanks again! I've bookmarked the blog; I suddenly realized that a friend of my wife lived in Japan when he was a child; he claims to read and speak Japanese like an eight-year old - much to the surprise and amusement of visiting Japanese tourists! With any luck, I can trade a rough translation for a dinner invitation!
@YOSH How are you? I hope that you are doing fine! Thank's for the Manaslu info blog link! With google translator that appeared to the top of that page I got almost readable English translation! My Manaslu stoves are still un-fired since they were new and hard to find. I think that early next year I will have a visit to Tokyo so I need to find some used Manaslu stove that I can test them.
@Afterburner Hi,I'm very fine! And you? That's a nice translation! Please let me know when you come to Japan.I'll get Manaslu stove that you want in Yahoo auction !
Good Morning, @YOSH , This is excellent news, and it makes me very excited that I may, one day, be able to buy a Manaslu 121 to go with my lovely Manaslu 96! Many thanks for sharing this information, and also, welcome to CCS!! Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
Manaslu ....Quality modern classics. I could be mistaken (nothing new in this head)... But I think the 121 & 126 share the same size burner...... The (oh so nice) Manaslu 96 is a smaller burner or a smaller bore nipple. I dont know why i think this .... I've only a 121 to play with so cant say for sure.... Others chime in...? All 3 stoves have the same burner ? Lovely stoves. Nick
@brassnipplekey - I think (mind, think!) that all three stoves share the same burner. I, too, only own one of them - a 96 - but from the looks of it, they all share the same 00-type burner. (Would that be a burner #200?)
Cheers George... Wow you're fast on the buttons . Established that the 96 IS a smaller burner..though shares the same jet/nipple as its bigger sisters.. which would explain the boil time differences in this post from a few weeks ago. https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/my-manaslu-problems-continue-what-to-do.33455/ The manaslu 96 DOES NOT have the same output as its larger sisters...If in doubt , or if you want to make a 'Manaslu mighty mite' try a 121/126 burner or equip it with a primus/optimus 00 burner. Lovely stoves. Nick
Hi All, Manaslu 96 is small head,121/126 are same head. http://www.star-corp.co.jp/product/detail100259.html YOSHI
I think this thread is visualising the difference: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/manaslu-burners.28224/ My burners for Optimus 00 and Radius 21 is the same hight that the one from Manaslu 96, so it is a easy swap. Putting a Manaslu 121-burner on 96, will be a too hight burner for the pot stands. The 00-burner in the thread is little higher than mine. The aperture of my Manaslu 96 jet is smaller than my Optimus 00, Primus 210 and Radius 21-jets. The cleaning needles from those stoves do not fit the Manaslu 96-jet.
