I can't find "Krystal Kerosene". I just bought 3 versions of kero. I have pump kero. Now I want to get JetA and compare them.
@kerry460 Yup, exactly my thought. @snwcmpr Here's some Jet A(direct from the airport, this time) in an Aladdin 23 font. Font is completely clear, sitting on white paper for better visibility vs the brown table.
That last pump is a siphon pump, common on this side of the water. Difficult to pump small qty's into a small tank through a small filler hole with no way to see how full the tank is. Also, it's a siphon pump! If you have full jug of kero and a shorter lamp/stove sitting on the same surface, so the level of the kero in the jug is much higher, it's very easy to start the siphon. Great for filling my diesel truck from cans, will move several gallons quite quickly, or for filling my kero heater that takes well over a gallon and has a fuel gauge. Also what I use to fill the 1gal can pictured, from my bulk cans. With stove/lantern quantities, it's VERY easy to start the siphon and make a huge mess and waste a lot of kero. That was exactly the pump that lead me to look for a better option. Not trying to be a downer, just want anyone without experience to have some idea about it before running out and buying one. For certain uses it's great, for stoves and lamps there are better options.
Laboratory wash squeeze bottle is just fine for kero and OK for filling meths preheaters too. Just open the hole in the swan neck to allow filling at whatever speed you like. Being impatient I often cut the restrictor end off altogether. The good ones include a small ball bearing valve that releases internal pressure and means temp changes don't cause them to dribble out fuel. It takes an intentional squeeze to close the valve and get flow going.
