Fettlebox might have some. The sourses on ebay were selling NRVs that had burrs and dimensional errors and so were either difficult or impossible to use. Search this forum for several discussions. I bought some that need machining to fit a tool to insert. And that was after cleaning up the burred and unchamfered theads. So beware where you buy them from. Ken in NC
@NW Lady Do you need a complete NRV or just a refurbishing kit? As @snwcmpr said above, beware!!! If there is a possibility of repairing the NRV - Go for it! At least you know then that the NRV will fit the stove and not wreck the threads...
I know that Ross (The Fettlebox) checks the NRVs and also the threads on the burners before he sells them. I've said this before: quality is guaranteed when you buy of him! (and no, I don't get a percentage on his sales... ). As a member you also get a discount. Best regards, Wim
In addition to a spare valve or two I would recommend the nrv rebuild kit from Fettlebox also. Optimus switched to a molded pip sometime around the '60s so you'll need that little brass pip holder cup to rebuild your original valve with the standard pip.
I contacted fettlebox for rebuild kits to have on hand and ask about an NRV for the optimus 111T. He had kits for my svea 123 but not for 111T. He did have kits for 111 and 111B that has most of the parts I would need for the 111T. Maybe I asked about the actual NRV in a confusing way so I just sent him another email about a NRV for the 111T. Thank you for the heads up on getting an NRV from ebay. I had send an inquiry to one of the sellers on ebay and got a rather confusing, generalized response. So glad I decided to check with all of you before buying. I did order the 2 kits for the svea and the kit that has most of the parts the 111T would need. My NRV seems to be working perfectly right now but thought it would be a good idea to have a spare on hand as well as rebuild kits. I also ordered the 3 way tool. I have read there is a difference in the old and new pip cup/assembly. I've looked at some pictures but still somewhat unclear about this. My stove is probably a newer version. I am not saying that all the NRVs from ebay are bad. But, there have been multiple reports of a lot of problems. If Fettlebox has them, I am sure they are good for your classic stove. The one's I bought from a large dealer were unusable as sold. Maybe you can ask Fettlebox to wait to ship your current order until you determine all the parts you need. The NRVs are repairable, and do not always require replacement. It is very uncommon to have to replace it. There are choices from Fettlebox of lead or HDPE washers, too. There are 2 types of pip in the NRVs. A bucket type and a formed type. You will see those in your search. I believe the formed type was introduced in the 60's (?). That's enough to cause some more confusion, that i hope you are able to clear up. Ken in NC

Thank you. I have heard of him and his silent burner. Wish he would give an all day or weekend class. OK so bucket type is better. Thank you for the link. My guess is that I have the formed type since my stove is newer. Thanks for the advice to change it. I don't wan't to open up my optimus 111T until I have the washes I need to put it back together. Hopefully, that company will send to the USA if I do have the formed type. I have read that the one type is preferred...but why? haven't quite figured that out.
@NW Lady There is no easy way to repair a formed type pip that breaks. You need to replace it with another formed type. If you have a bucket type, you can exchange the sealing rubber quite easily - either with a purchased one, or you can make one from Viton sheet with a punch. Edit: This is what the formed type looks like, as opposed to the bucket type shown here
Someone here said Base Camp has the formed type pip for sale. @Rangie ?? I am not sure that one is better than the other. The bucket type, with cork many many years old, can still be functional. They are more easily replaced by punching a sheet of appropriate material. But, the formed ones work. There must have been a reason they changed to those type. I hope it wasn't just for profit. The new ones purchased are the bucket type, that I have seen.
@snwcmpr I would think production cost, one less part in the NRV to produce and keep in stock were the (initial) reasons. I'm also pretty sure production cost (profit) was the main reason - why else would they change a design that was proven through many years of service in all types of conditions? What if the new design turned out to be a total flop?? Makes no sense to me - unless driven by profit... Just my 2c...

This last hour or so I went on a search for posts about pips...and of course, got off topic by all the interesting info here. See the pics definitely helps get it fixed in my mind. Yes, I will try to get a bucket type... and my stove is pretty new so I suspect that it has the formed one. To be clear, the NRV will take either style pip... right?
