Well folks, what a great, fun, stove weekend this has been, and a resounding success for the little 123(r) stove.
The next stove of choice was mentioned in a few previous threads .. the collapsible 1 pint brasser i.e. Primus 210, Optimus 00, or similar.
Someone mentioned including 96's too, along with 71's & 80's etc. However I think that might confuse the fun a little.
Each of these stoves are special in their own way, and my original idea was to celebrate this uniqueness with a thread dedicated to just one stove type. Hey, we can get around to covering them all, ... eventually.
So, if folks are in agreement, may I propose the 1 pint collapsible brass stove for a dedicated photo weekend ? ...... when though ?
Next w/e seems a bit soon for me, but I'm willing to be convinced otherwise. Skyeside is special in it's own way, and I wouldn't like to interfere with the photo & stove fun that is sure to result from that 'adventure'.
Please, your suggestions are needed and welcome.

For stove photo w/e n.3 I have already thought that the Coleman backpacking stoves would be a good choice ... I don't have one and am still ignorant of the different sizes, model numbers etc. so look forward to learning a bit about them. However, that is for another time, perhaps early new year!

Back to w/e n.2 .. can we agree on the 1 pinters and a date ?

    Thanks again

Does a Juwel 21 qualify for this one? At this time, I'm rather kero stove poor. I'm hopeing the Juwel 21 will work. If so, I better get it fettled.

Perhaps we could have a Juwel 21 weekend, I'm up for it ;)

Seems a bit drastic doing all the one pinters in one weekend, why the rush ? We didn't do all of the 123 "similars" this last weekend.

Perhaps '1-pint, 3-leggers' is a good category for a repeat of this weekend's exercise, Rather than narrowing it down to one particular make or broadening it to include ?-pinters etc.

As to timing; how about the same time next month or the middle weekend of the next month but one. Too frequently runs the risk of running out of stove categories fairly quickly, but if the intervals are too long such things have a tendency to get forgotten.

Great idea for the '1-pint, 3-leggers'.
But I would like to suggest an amendment.
    I suggest Optimus/Primus 1-pint, 3-leggers. eg. Primus 30, 210, 210L, Optimus 00,800, 200 Roarer, 200 Silent.
We could then have another weekend for all the other '1-pint, 3-leggers' from the other manufacturers.

My idea is that we don't rush this process. Of course, there are many stoves that most of us do not possess and so there will be times when we can not participate.
But it is also an incentive to try and acquire one before the photo-shoot.

Last weekend was for the Svea 123 and not for all the other 'climbing' stoves. Plenty of time for that later.
I suggest we DO NOT have photo weekends of large varieties of stoves, but keep it restricted. However, it should not be so restricted so that we get hardly any photos.
    What do you think? |imgRemoved|

My (only) 1-pinter is a Svea 121, but it's remarkably similar to all those other 1-pinters.

So may I join now or do I still have to wait for a Svea 121-weekend?

Primus / Optimus 1-pint, 3-leggers isn't a particularly restrictive category when you give it a bit more thought.

Agreed Ian, timing is important, not to be a monthly thing. How about 4 times a year, around every 12 weeks? Maybe the first week in February next?

I like the One-Pint Three Leg class cannot see any reason to leave out the Svea 121 or the Brit clones.

Was tempted to suggest Burns Night as the date - but that falls mid week.

    Hi Doug

I don't want to leave out the Svea and Brit 1 pint stoves.
I want them to have their own special weekend along with others from around the world.

How about a "light the stove of choice" weekend, just pick a weekend, and post a picuture or two of the stove you used?

Good idea - a 'wildcard' weekend for unusual stoves.
One weekend in every three using the wildcard idea would be good.

There is a subtle trade-off set here.

One-Pint Collapsers - is a pretty big category whereas One-pint collapsers Optimus/Primus is probably about one third of it.

The Two variables are - the choice of category, and the Frequency.

How might you divide the One-Pint Three Leg class
    1. Optimus/Primus 2. Brit 3. Other Swedish 4. Rest Of the World.
    OR
    1. Swedish 2. Brit 3. Rest of the World.
    or some other approach?

I'd suggest that if we are going to divide this into 4 Sub categories then much more frequently than 12 weekly probably monthly - as a suggestion how about a scheduled Phototheme - Second Weekend of each Month. - I have no trouble seeing twelve viable categories.

    A favor, please.

I'm presently about 2K miles from most of my collection. Just Svea 123 and a Trangia mini and me here in Iowa. I'll be home for Christmas (there's a tune, there...). Can we have the next photo shoot sometime between Christmas and New Years? Thanks.

    Hey, Guys,

I agree with Arch on this one, and in fact, he and I are going to try and do a "Micro Stove Gathering" while he's home for Christmas!!! We can take lots of photos of our stoves, doing what they do best, and also of our ugly mugs, as well!! Of course, there's a good chance that Sweet Bride will be participating in this event, so she will add some class to the whole thing!!! I'm really excited about the prospects of getting together with Arch, and hope that it can come to pass! Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc Mark

BTW, I didn't mean to try to unduly influence the process; if another weekend is better for everyone else, then go for it. :)

So far no concrete plans for the Southern California Micro Meet, other than that it's sometime between Dec 22 and Jan 1. Anyone able to get to southern CA will be more than welcome. Doc and I will release more details as we muddle them out.
