I am trying to find info on a Primus 17 but have not managed to find anything, date letter is W 1932. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Ray.
I've never heard of a Primus 17. Please post some photos to the Reference Gallery. I'd love to see it. Ben
@cabriolet76 Hi Ray. We've had confusion before when a Primus 107 has had the '1' worn faint or when it was perhaps poorly stamped in the first place. That said, the fuel cap isn't 1930's vintage and it's not clear whether the windshield's hiding the distinctive hexagonal riser tube and pricker control of a 107. Probably not, the latter would protrude beyond the confines of the windshield. John
Hi, as John has said, the filler cap is not a Primus 1930s design, but much later, being of the type used post 1962 and the formation of the PTC: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/primus-no-5.5467/ The rest of the stove looks older, and the legs have the characteristic Primus form, rather than the Optimus shape of post 1962 stoves.. Best Regards Kerophile.
It does have a hexagonal riser with some sort of spindle fitted (but broken off). I will get some better photo's later.
Yes indeed Ray, Primus 107 with the pricker spindle and knob missing. Non-original silent burner and also absent is the distinctive pierced brass windscreen, coupled with a deeper priming cup. John
I just love a good mystery. Once again Chief Inspector John Clouseau noticed subtle clues, teased out the answer, and posted his conclusion beautifully. BRAVO! Ben
@z1ulike Ha! ... a touch disappointed really Ben, I was hoping Ray had filled one of the many gaps in the Primus numbering hierarchy ... now there is a mystery, how Primus arrived at those. John
