I just purchased the stove I believe it's either Optimus or Primus but I am unsure there's a Piece of weird material underneath the burner cap and I need some help finding out what it is so I can replace it. S any Stobie's out there please help would be greatly appreciated thank you!!'
Hi, I don't think this is a Primus or Optimus, as it would be well marked. I can't tell you what make it will be, maybe someone else will recognize it. One thing is clear, your stove runs on alcohol (methylated spirits). The weird material is a sort of wick, not easy to tell what it is but be careful as it could be asbestos. Best advice I can give is to check carefully for leaks, and try the stove (do this outside! Better safe than sorry!). If all functions well you can leave everything like is and enjoy your stove. Yes it must be something different then a optimus or Primus your right, and as for that material the Temptatiom is to mess with it lol, but I believe you're right better safe than sorry and just leave it alone and seal it up tight. It's still a strange stove as i'm having a hard time pre-eating it so that the Stove will run , I appreciate the help anyone else out there that has the new information in stovie land I would be grateful for some tips or advice, regards Joshua
A few brands use This burner type. Cobra, Bing, - other frances and EMES 2 -Poland but - tank is speific - only one of them use it

Wow thank you I clicked on the links and put the text in the Google translate and that helped immensely now I know what that hard piece was underneath the burner. It is a strange type of WIC for the alcohol. Now I can make some progress on getting the stove to work correctly. Thank you all for your help !!!!!
By chance is there anyone out there who has a wick for sale or trade for this particular stove? can't find one anywhere would be happy to hear from anyone thank you all I think it is a hasag liliput wick)???!!
Can I remove the old WIC and replace it with like a fiberglass heater wick? From let's say a Coleman catalytic heater wick? The wake in my stove is rock hard and Rusty and I know that's what's affecting his performance. Any ideas out there? Anybody replace the wick look for these type of stoves before? Almost looks like a mud wasps nest, we have them here and they can get in very tiny spaces. I may be ALL wrong. Country logic.
Looks like the good people here are giving you great advice about your project. Probably is asbestos. Wear gloves, a dust mask, and wet the wick with water to keep the dust down. Do not wipe skin with a rag if you get asbestos fibers on your skin. This will make your skin itch or burn. When finished rinse your hands under cold water to get the dust off let the water do the work don't rub. Then gently wash using liquid soap gently rub soap on and rinse with cold water let air dry. This will prevent the pores of the skin from opening and you shouldn't be itchy from the asbestos. This is what I do when I change clutches, brakes, and work with asbestos. Did you go to Miles Stair and look at the stoves and information on his website ? I know that if he does not have the stove pictured or you cannot find it just send him an email with questions, pictures and he will respond. He was a wealth of information for my Sad stove, and my Perfection Heater. I am looking forward to seeing more about this stove. Have a happy holiday season. - Josh
