A little package came today, I had given it a minimum bid on eBay in a fit of madness and got it. It's a bit sad in a way, got the wrong screw in pressure release, burner a bit bent, NRV is the usual shape but seems a bit larger, my NRV tool does not fit. The plunger needs work, the legs need excess solder fixing and that is at first look , what else I don't know yet . I am in for the challenge ,,,,, um um I was going to do some other projects but this project came along, and just have to play. Had a look in the stove reference and found one example.
    Oh well here it is.

    Cheers

    @Robert Bruce

I'm glad it has gone to good hands - I almost put on a bid for it, but my cash flow was heading south.

    Good luck!

Hi Tony, I thought you would have looked at it, it seemed a bit different which got my interest.
Been looking at it tonight, the air bleed screw is 1/4 BSF 26. I have a tap that size but no die, a trip to the engering shop I think, to make one. The burner is 1/4 inch longer than standard so none of my others will fit, so the original will have to be repaired, it's bent and has some dents in the middle section, also the thread which is metric the same as others has been cross threaded some time. Confirmed the NRV is larger than normal so I think making a tool to fit will be the go. The legs are bent in a bit and a normal trivit does not fit but that is easy to fix. The air screw in it is a Svea one , metric and too loose but the proper type can be made from pictures. A good challenge I think, this will be enjoyable.

    Cheers

I saw one just like this, with no script anywhere, in Luxor, Egypt and I was told that it was an Egyptian manufacture. The burner had a different screw thread and would not fit, it spite of the efforts of several local lads and in spite of its being marked "made in Egypt! The price was OK, but the legs, like this one, were soldered on and it would not fit into my suitcase. I then found the 795 lamp, for a bit more, so I bought that!

Unusual Jim the Egipt ones, this has just Rowan and British on it. Got it going today but the burner is one I had about 8 mm too low. The pump needed now bucket and a clean, usual wrong bucket and extra washers so no back stroke.
Loosing a bit of preasure at NRV, have to get it out when I make a tool.

    Cheers

    Hello Rob.
I've seen a couple of Rowen stoves here in NZ but they appeared to be later models and very similar to Primus/Optimus No:5's.

I am not familiar with them but looking at it, your one has the style of a stove from say the early 1900's. My guess would be around 1920 in that period?
    Cheers, John

Thanks John, I had thought it was possibly from around the 1920s. Tonight I maid a bleed screw on the lathe, witworth fine thread. Maid a tool to get the NRV out but needed to remove the tube to get it out. Normal Primus one not fitting. Found the usual no washer on the NRV , tried the hot water etc but no go. Straightened the legs. Just the excess solder off the legs. It is now working well which is pleasing. Also a suitable trivit needs to be found, so well on the way.

    Cheers

Made a temporarey air screw, found a BSF bolt, turned it in the lathe, used the tap I had to thread the brass top. Now trying it boiling some water for tea. Just have to deal with the solder on the legs. This will be a problem as I need to keep the patena of the tank, being an old one I don't want to polish it and the cleaning of the solder may make it shiney but here it is.
    Cheers
