Thanks for the ideas here one and all!

If I bought a msr pump I may as well get an international and be done with it. :( Then I may as well have got a Nova primus etc.
Maybe I should get a sigg firejet and be done with it.
    Quiet light small.
Throw it away when it needs fixing.

I know a bloke in outboard repair. If he's still there but have to drive 1000 kms to get there to scrummage around in his mountain of stuff.

Some of the pros around here no doubt have some bits kicking around.
Midnight motors at the boat ramp!!! :^o

See what I can come up with. Thanks for the brain tweek.

I've seen the outbord round connectors now that someones reminded me.#-o #-o #-o

Lindel fitting /reg valve off a gas burner??
The male thread is 8mm x something ain't it.
If the gas people know they ain't telling me.
Wonder how a regulated silent kero burner would go on propane /butane with the right jet.
    Ultimate multi fuel burner??
    Or portable blevvy?

Get the Nova (or the Primus Omnifuel if you intend to burn liquid gas) for crying out loud and fit it in your Trangia Bruce, job done, no throwing away required ;)

The alcohol nipple might work but the burner might get hot enough to melt. That could be messy.

Keep tearing your hair out Rik!

I'll buy a nova when they bring out a quiet burner.

Or wait till I can't get one then complain and whinge about it!!
Then have to make a nova .

If there is such a thing as a quiet multifuel You can still buy to put in a trangia. What would it be??

What on earth do you want to buy one for, when you're making such a good job of building one. OK, so there's a few obstacles in your path at the moment, but nothing that can't be overcome. Even if you do have to resort to buying-in some relatively expensive fitting(s) the total cost of your home-build isn't going to be anything near the AU$130+ that a new Nova or Omni would set you back. Stick with it, Bruce, you're doing fine. :D

I don't want to buy one Ian.
    Two reasons.
    1. If something happens to it you can't fix them with out proprietory parts.
Which if you can get are expensive. If they manufacture them for more than five minutes.
    2. No fun. If I can make one out of standard everyday bits and pieces it ain't worth crap to me. If I can't make or fix it ain't worth owning.
1/8 bsp,Npt etc is still common.
Had to even have a guess what the thread forms on some of the stove basic bits that will go wrong are. Like fuel hoses, connections all them little o-rings and tiny bits.

    For a stop cock valve
I have only come up with a fuel stop off a mower. Aluminium type of a briggs or victa.
have seen small brass ones on old stationary engines pumps/gen set etc

A brass lpg gas cock. The good old ones with the tapered plug in the tapered hole trick and a nut underneath. Work great but don't burr the edges on them or feed them crap to gall a groove out in them.
Guess if they can handle gas then liquids should not be an issue. No o-rings to perish or tear over time.
Did see one in the gas/plumber shop maybe small enough.
He said its no good cos it's made for gas burners and have gas threads. drill it out solder tube in.

Think I'll google model engineering stuff stuff see what I come up with plus the others.

I may be wrong in presuming the valve on the burne is a shutoff/flow valve, but if the hose as has been suggested is attached to the burner then you would only require a single valve on the tank and of course the quick connect??

I would put the outboard motors remote tank plug on your stove tank and the gas line attachment on the stoves remote hose: The burner end of course would be threaded to the burner. Has someone already suggested this??
I can find attachments for Johnson/Evinrude or Mercury etc at a hardware store a half hour drive from here probably less then 30CAD, whether they are decent quality and not shabby imported rubbish is another issue though. Usually the import junk is plastic and attached with cheap crimp connectors.

The possibility of "reverse flow check valves" like those found on oxy-acetylene torches may be adapted to suit, leaving only the quick connect, and a shutoff or simple plug cap for the tank.

Decided to have pipe detach from tank for safety sake in case of leaks.
    As was suggested to me.

Had to use copper 1/4'' gas pipe as the brass tube I can get is only light gauge and may be liable to kniking and breaking with abuse.
Lest the copper will flex abit better.

Dispenced with the idea of a quick release at the moment.
Still work on it and see what happens/ or comes along. Can always change.

Made up my fickle mind to keep my original design at the moment.

Got it up to sitting in windscreen stage today.
    Tried the flippy stoppy thing.
Works O.K. about five minutes and heaps more on simmer to run out.
Doesn't splutter with going out just burns a deep blue till it runs out of vapour.
Let air run out of tank and let it all cool down. While having cuppa.

Put the BBQ themometer in windscreen and then on feeder pipe to guage temperature.
says 60 deg under windshield and 65 deg resting along feeder pipe. Stable water bubbling.
    Frypan cooking is even lower.

Put themometer in water and heated till it read 65 deg but a damn sight hotter than it reads I think.

First 3 inches gets hot of flex line. about 5 seconds to taking fingers off. In cook mode.
Flat bikkie gets a bit hotter and longer up the tube.
Think its the hot fuel and copper gas pipe I used convecting up the tube fittings and hose tail.

Didn't know silent burners chugged like a old steam engine till I amplified it in the windscreen.
    Quiet though.
Boils 1 litre in around 4-5 minutes.
The space between burner and pot is large at the moment. With the burner just sitting on ground. If I raise it up it should boil quicker I think.

    Nicely windproof thats for sure.

Was using low oder kero which I think is a bit weak on the btu's.
Have to decide whether to raise burner or leave for super low simmer control.
Without it just whispering out the burner caps to blow out with a puff or back burn from lack of pressure when tank runs lower.

Going to be an awesome stove when finished!!
Lots of things to sort out yet to finnish off this project.

Few adjustments and re-thinking is in order now.
Will get it they way I want it to be in the end and what works well for me.

    So many things.
    So many things.

Still got the guts of it done.

The one on a KAP Arctic is at the burner. There is a stop valve in the connector so that there is only a small spray of kero if disconnected under pressure...

Wonder Murray if you could measure up the connect coupling on you KAP stove.
post a couple of close-ups of it??

Seen then on the sites and previous posts.
    But not end on.
Does the o-ring slip over the end of the tube?
And it appears that the thread on the end you have to twist a couple of times to seal properly.
    Is this right.

The only connectors I have seen like this are for TOHATSU outboad motors. But alot larger.

Any way all great stuff to me!!!

I'll try and take some photos at the weekend. There may still be a few spare parts for sale from KAP, last time I checked they still had the fuel line components in stock.

Well a pic or two to laugh at folks.
Just sitting in windsheild are held in place by my favorite aussie cure all wire.
All set up for the all important camp oven test.
    Setup.jpg

This is me hard at work taking complusaray readings etc.
    hardatwork.jpg

Burns not to bad for a fifty year old radius quiet adjustable.
Don't know what causes the halo. Could be a bit shitty still. Replaced graphite tape as the other powdered in my hand. Blew back though jet hole to try and get it all out.
Been clogging a bit and sometimes get a spactacular puff of little specks if I turn it up or clean jet and turn back. Hope it fixes itself.Getting better.
Is this a sign of not burning hot enough??? Or shitty fuel??
    nightburner.jpg

Have lots of work to do one it still.
Windsheid holder /pipe length /removeable regulating key. etc etc.

Thanks murray will try and contact them and see what they have.
Never tried I thought they when out of business 15 years ago!!

    Cheers Bruce.

Note: the only thing that leaked in whole set -up so far was a bspt thread join. Two wraps of ptfe tape and fixed.
Must be getting better at this stuff.
    Chees Bruce.
Post more later if anyones interested When I sort out how I'm going to do it. Properly.
May take a while at this pace.

G'day Bruce. Great achievement. Looks like you have crossed a Blowlamp with silent burner stove and a Trangia to come up with something very like a KAP. Suitable donor Blowlamps are cheap here in the UK although the outlet is on the top of the tank rather than through the filler hole.

You must now say, aloud, several times: "There is nothing wrong with the Flame!!!"

You look really relaxed in that chair.... Your stove has just passed the "Tea Test"

    Well Done,
    Best Regards,
    Kerophile

Still can't find a quick coupling but never mind I'm happy with my home made one.
Bit of threading but works and should never give any trouble I can't fix.
Not really a quick cuppa stove set up as it takes me a bit to get it all setup and fired up.
    Nice to cook on though.

Pretty Happy with the way it is.
Maybe a bit of this and that but semi complete.
Bit of cook time and it will sort itself out no doubt.

    Run down
weigh so far 800 grams no fuel.
boils 1.5 litres in big pot in 5.30-6.00 minutes
Boils 1 litre in small pot 4-5 min.
    With low smell kero.
Got new kero but haven't done a test yet.

Simmers to a whisper fantastically in the Sigg windsheild.

Burn time cooking about 3 hrs roughly 520 ml = nearly a pint

If I put some sexy legs on it I could use it as a throw down stove for the cuppa break!!!

    Working on that one.
    Any suggestions???

Think of a cup with a slot for the burner pipe and and hole for control valve. with legs somehow.
    Easy in and easy out!!

If they is anything I have missed out on let me know please!!
Wick for primer and lighter flue??
    Etc,etc.

Photo next to 111T for comparison
    beside111t.jpg

Over all photo of all the bits
    arialoverall.jpg

Just need a pair of sexy legs to put on it now!!
And a container/ bag to cart it in.

How big were those airliner bags :-k

  One happy chappy here!!
Hope you like the bits from the "junk yard stove".
    "Multi national stove"

Handi pump stem and cap. Filler cap

"Ye Olde Antique 111t /KAP (missing link- un mentioned offspring keep it closet )
Dunno find a name for it yet. could turn out be called that F'n Thing one day!!

    Hey, Bruce,

You are THE MAN, when it comes to making something grand out of little bits!!! VERY impressive, Lad, and very well done!! Huzzah!!! Like Ian, I am impressed with your joinery skills, and it's neat that you are so intrepid when it comes to putting such things together! Have fun with your new Handi-Kap, and again, well done!

Hopefully, I'll be posting your SVEA parts to you soon. I've been waiting until I can test Keith's stove, and so send your stuff at the same time I send his, and Sefa's. But, work's been calling my name, and I've had no time for it, as of yet. But, soon, I'm sure I'll get it all off to you and the other Lads, as well! Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc Mark
