    Hi All,
I got a Shinabro Stove on fleabay, it's an Optimus 8R clone.

The burner bell won't screw on , basically it is misthreaded

Is there any high heat resistant tape I can screw the bell on so it stays put?

I'd use aluminum foil cut into thin strips than wrapped around the male threads until tite.

Do you mean 'cross-threaded', 'sloppy' thread, 'won't go on at all' or something else???
Maybe you have the wrong bell for the stove.

It feels like it's threaded but you can pull it straight out afterwards. It seems like the male threads are a little worn out

Might not be the right bell, too.

    Maybe...

Also, would soldering hold or is it going to melt the tin?

I don't care if it is somewhat permanent , have plenty of similar stoves, just need to make this usable

If you solder it, you won't have access to the jet.
The tip to use foil is a good one.

I tried the foil tip, didn't work in my case. The jet has a self cleaning needle. If I need to replace it, I can always remove and re-solder. I wonder if it gets too hot to keep it soldered on.

Solder won't hold. It will get too hot. You could braze it, but then it would be permanently fixed.

I have a similar problem with a Svea 123 and I will (eventually) rethread it by adding braze to the existing thread and using a die. I have no idea what the thread is for your stove.

    Cheers

    Tony

Error, solder will not hold. I only thought of not doing it so as to have access to the jet.

I'll try to remember to check my stoves when I get home to see if there is a difference between burner bells for the Shinabro and Optimus.

You don't want to use something tha might prevent good heat conduction from the bell to the vaporiser. Brass foil or very fine brass wire might work if the aluminum is too fragile.

The burner bell for the Optimus 8R has a slightly larger hole thans does the Shinabro bell (also Precise Phoenix) that I have. But, it is not so large that it won't screw on and it seems to fit fairly securely although I suspect it could easily be damaged if it was torqued a bit.

The burner bell from the Shinabro will not thread onto the Optimus stove.

Can you post some detailed photos of the threads of the bell and the stove?

Thanks Itchy, that is my observation as well.

I really dont know what to do, the wire thing didnt help either.

At this point, i will be on the lookout for a Shinabro or Precise Phoenix burner bell. I doubt that will ever pop up when i am looking, but who knows...

Any idea where i may find a Shinabro burner bell besides Ebay?

With respect to the 8R-style stoves, I've seldom seen parts for for sale for anything but the Optimus. The best approach may be to try to spot one for sale that is missing a control knob or flame plate, etc. and get it as a parts stove if the price is right.

The other way to look at it is that you already have the parts stove.

They are well built stoves but there is little demand for them, so a single part could cost nearly as much as another used stove.
