Gavin, Thanks for your update. I'm running a 111T and 111 without their internal cleaning needles and thought a regular pricker would fit the jet hole if needed. Sure enough, after checking, it doesn't fit. Not only that but it's difficult to get the pricker into position due to the small space. I've been running the 111T like this for 3 years and haven't had the need to poke anything but maybe it's time to put the needle back in.
Yes, it is tricky. My guitar strings were too thick but I managed to fashion one from the bristle of a brass brush which seems to be working ok.
I blow out flames so they don't go out on their own when shutting a stove down, hoping to avoid carbon build up in the jet/nipple. Had trouble last winter with a Radius 43. Took a bit to remember or turning the valve that it had a cleaning needle in it. So many stoves, so little time. Can't use them all enough to remember their quirts. I make notes on a hang tag though, when I last used them and any fixes or habits. 160+ stoves, how do you remember? Time for a snow trip, down to 14F/-10C this AM. Duane
I ended up taking my Primus Omnifuel and a MSR G or something. Temperature warmed up to the mid 20s Monday night, not much snow so camped close to a small creek. Pleasant the next AM. Duane
So, I have seemingly resolved all the issues with this stove and it is now fitted with a range of new bits and pieces, including a cleaning needle and it is working a treat. I don't think I would even have attempted it if I hadn't found this forum so thank you all.
So, just to be sure you know. You are aware this stove should be monitored that the NRV doesn't leak. Gas in the pump tube can make for a very bad day. Ken in NC
Exactly Ken! That's what I thought! It was sold to me as a 111B but the guys on here identified that it is actually a 111. Again, without this forum, I would have been clueless.
Haha! Well I have just finished a second 111 which I will put a couple of pics up soon. I now have four of those. Oh and the Sich 3... There's two of them... Oh and I can't stop making penny stoves... Then there's the Trangia stuff... And the Crusaders (MK1 & MKII)... OMG! What's happening to me?!!!
Gavin, that is the beginning - please contact your doc:-) what should I say more than 40 Enders Stoves, then maybe 30 other stoves and about 30 Petromax Lamps... RJ
