Here is a nice stove that I came across. Its complete except for the box and fuel cap (lid).
Also I think the spindle is not clocked right. It looks like it has the original wick inside
and I could not find any marks on the vaporizer, maybe it was changed and the wrench did not
leave any. It was used some, and has a few slight bends on the windscreen. Until I find a good
way to straighten them out, I'll leave it alone.

    Thanks for reading.....roby

It's a beauty. I was given a stove of similar vintage - looking at the stampings, key, chain, and pin to hold the key. The fuel cap is different, and you mentioned the stove didn't have one. I notice that the pot holders, like the one I have, don't have any grooves near the bottom to hold them in place. I wonder if that indicates an early manufacture? It's in wonderful condition. Congratulations. Thanks for the photos.

I think that's a first generation as it has then pin to hold the key. Very desirable stove, congrats on scoring it! Too bad about the dents but if you take it slow and use the right tools they could be greatly improved. Nice to have the original handle as they often get lost.

    Nice find.
That hole in the key where the chain is attached is the wrench for removing and tightening the jet. The loop at the end of the chain should go around the key in the slots at the base of the wrench. If you're careful when you attach it (loop should be perfectly round, and closed all the way), then it will keep the chain from wrapping around the key when you adjust the flame.

Thank you for your comment on the key. It bothers me every time I see keys attached through one of the holes but I thought I was the only one who was bugged by that detail.

    Hello Arch

Yes I was aware the key was attached in the wrong place. It bugs me to, this is how
I got the stove. The windscreen has a few slight bends in the middle, when I can
straighten them a bit I will attach the key correctly. What really bugs me is when
one sees a really nice stove for sale on ebay and its all tore apart laying in pieces.
Sometimes taken apart with improper tools. Another are youtube videos showing how the
cup goes on and off several times on the Svea 123 stoves and pouring CF all over the
    stove to light.

    Thanks

    Roby

    @Ed Winskill

In the photos above, the key is attached to the chain through the 'cut out' that is the nipple remover.

The 'correct' way to attach that key is around the two 'vs' cut near the top of the shaft.

    I hope that makes sense.

    Cheers

    Tony

As seen here. You have to zoom to see it, but that's where he meant.[IMG]

A slightly different key but the chain fastening is the same.

Very nice stove you have here and an excellent set of pictures.

Is the consensus that yours is the earliest style Sievert key predating this more common Sievert key?

I've been reading Doug's report this week too because while visiting friends in Colorado our host went into his garage and came out with a stove that looks to be the same age. Luckily it has the original fuel cap. The jet pricker is missing and the tank is dented. Two of the pot holders seem to be homemade replacements. One is a nail, the other has the ridges on the wrong side (oops). The one in the middle looks original but is squared off on the bottom and not grooved like later Sievert Svea's. I see Royb03's pot holders are the same.

Could both these stoves be first generation, built before 1958?
