one of my stoves has been cannabalized for its flame spreader and key for a more worthy stove. Does anyone know where I can source a key and flame spreader so I can keep it up and running with the rest of them. If I can't buy the parts, then I will have to make the flame spreader, but the Key....I have not tried to make one yet. Perhaps this is the time. I am sure some of you stoves have gone down that road of making your own flame spreaders and keys. Please give me your ideas. For my last home made flame spreader I did not document it. This new flame spreader will be photographed and documented.

I appreciate any advice that you can provide.

Svea 123 keys come up from time to time on the bay of evil. But you can make one from square-profile brass tube; or a clock key. Hobby shop brass tube is often quite thin, so buy the next size up and brazen the two tubes together.

Flame spreaders can be bought from The Base Camp (UK) or fogas.se (and probably somewhere in the US as well).

    Cheers

What size is the clock key. I was just now researching them...not sure if its a 00 , 1 or a 2 size. I measured with a micrometer and the square post is approx 0.11 inches square or 2.79mm square. I have tried bike spoke wrenches, but those are too large.

Thank you for the information. I am going to check out Base Camp and Fogas.se

Roby; Thank you, I ordered a key. Now I ll make the flame spreader and its back in business for the stove. I cannot stand to have these stoves and not keep them in good running order. I have six boys and one day I have to split up the stoves and pass them on. If they don't work, I cannot be sure that the boys will take an interest in them enough to get them up and running so keeping them operating and in use is best.

thanks to everyone for their input.
