    Found this at a small thrift shop nearby. Interesting in that I can find no information on it. Made in Japan, 1.3 liter, aluminum with hard plastic screw on lid. I thought of course it was just a canteen upon seeing it, like the old Palco brand. Upon removing the carry bag it is a kettle. It has been used and there are dents in the bottom and old campfire residue. But no holes. I do plan on cleaning it and using it. Very cool idea. Did some research - can find no others or a listing for HOPE or HOPE 1300. Not a bad buy for $1.00 US dollar :D. Anyone seen one of these or anything similar ??

    @fyrwokr

    "Hope" is the (small) company that makes "Manaslu" kerosene stoves.

    Cheers

    Fyr, That is now on my wish list (to replace others). Re your "Did some research - can find no others or a listing for HOPE or HOPE 1300" that surprises me because I thought for sure HOPE cook sets have been discussed here?
    Your kettle is new one on me and also has the nifty little skier logo, that too, I've not seen. I've seen quite a few light aluminum HOPE cook sets but I don't know how many types they offered over the years. They make the "mini" for back packing (and maybe skiing?) and back packing gear can sell at a premium so I've no idea where Hope cook sets fall in the quality/price spectrum. Yours is nice!!
    You might try Hope Kocher Zermatt -or- Hope Kocher Mini
    like yours, they are "made in Japan" but that said, again the lil skier logo is not familiar so I'm not so sure what to make of that as far as brand?
    thanks omc

    On balance I think it's a good idea. It's perfect for the times that you want to boil all of your water in one go. Not so good if you want to boil water for one cup of tea. But brilliant if you are collecting water from a lake or river the night before a hike and want to boil it to kill off any nasties.
    Regards

    Morning, @fyrwokr ,

    Excellent find, Sir! Now, you HAVE to seek out and buy a nice Manaslu stove, or several of them, to keep this kettle company!!! That would be a great pairing, to be sure! Well done, and thanks for sharing with us! Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

    Great kettle. I think it would pair well with a Borde bomb.

    @OMC I have seen some kettles as in the ad you posted. I even found a candle lantern that a gal had posted for sale locally. Had been her brothers and he had bought it in the '70's. Only item she had that was Hope branded. Still have not found another Kettle / Canteen like mine..

    @Leia Nora Lumang That is a great find and looks near new. Now we know there were at least two sizes. Mine is 1.3 and yours 1.8 liters
