It's important to point out that this classic device is more of a giant blowtorch than a stove. I'm still working on getting the burner coil working at top efficiency, but here is the set of "beauty shots". The last photo shows the unrestored furnace "intimidating" an unrestored Primus #3.
I just bought one of these and had it working but have some operational questions. The orifice is drilled into the side of the pipe that has flats on it. Does the orifice point straight up or in some other direction? I ask because I tried to start it (straight up) and it shor liquid fuel up maybe 4 ft and I had a burning flame thrower. I put the pot on top and then it heated enough to make a roaring blue flame. I'm not that familiar with this kind of stuff and am looking for advice, especially on adjustment and startup. No need to instruct on rebuild as it seems to be nice and clean and work fine. Oh I was running coleman fuel from walmart.
@FJ40 You've stumbled upon an old post by "BernieDawg" who has since been banned from the Classic Camp Stoves website by the owner. I'm sure BernieDawg would be glad to answer your question but you'll have to contact him by e-mail directly. His e-mail address can be found at the bottom of his website page HERE. Ben
Emailed. Regardless if someone knows how to operate this thing and is willing to let me know, I'll check back in a few days.
