This looks unfired, maybe fired at the factory is about all. New pump, cup, meths bottle, windscreens, plastic bag, instructions, owners side of warranty card. Other models I've received had a few more bits like flints, small parts. A good stovie friend Sam showed me his last Fall, so I've looked for one in between other stoves.

    Sweet.

Left hand slant and no wire wrapping.

A little late for the warranty registration. :-({|=

I thought I had most or all the early stoves then Sam showed me his. Deflated my balloon at the time. The warranty card shown was the customer stub.

That's pretty amazing Duane! Wowzer. I like the definitive tag on the bottom with the 'MF' label. No doubt that it is a multi fuel. Awesome!

It's still interesting that the tags and some of the paperwork are No. 9. Why not use old parts with the new products!

Hay Sam! I've wondered too at how many tags MSR used for years. Too, the short and long catch arms on stoves, I have numerous stoves with the two sizes.

    I have a G (or a GK) with Model 9 tags.

I thought my first "find" was a 9 in my early collecting days, so many stoves have that tag.

    Sweet stove!
I think you're right about the factory firing. I visited the MSR factory about 20 years ago and every burner was tested. I remember a long pipe with about a dozen fittings on each side so they could fire up a couple dozen or so at once. Jerry

It's no doubt the bottom bakelite base says MF but I'm almost certain that this stove is the even more rare Model DF. I've owned and still do several Model MF's and they all have the priming tube more towards the center of the burner and also all have the spring like heat coil. I believe you're even more lucky than you think!

The first picture is of two Model MF's. The blue one is a later model with the cutout on the side and larger burner housing. The other is an earlier MF. With no cutout and smaller housing.

The second picture shows a Model DF i n comparison to the Model MF. DF's have the flat loop off to the left side with no Heat coil (although some DF's do have the coil or a flat piece of metal as MSR suggested this at one point). The Model MF has the flat loop more towards the right of the burner.

The rod vs cable in the fuel line is another detail to determine difference/age.

Hey Hikerduane, this is such a beautiful post but it makes me wonder about the cable vs solid rod aspect as well as the type of jet and dampener. Have you ever open it up and seen a helix plug vs sintered brass?
