Good day all, Going thru and cleaning garage i found a Coleman Solus Stove. It is in origional box with instructions and the parts list.I put it on Ebay and it went crazy, hence i took it off and did some research. The stove is in good shape without any dents, just some scratches. Not being a collector it is of no use to me. But i would like to know the value and would be willing to sell it to a collector for a fair price. Help me out. Richard, ramhouse@sbcglobal.net
Why didn't you leave it on ebay?? sounds to me that you want as much as you can get for it. One things for sure you won't get a valuation here.
I have a problem with folks that put things up for sale then when they find the value is a bit more than they expected, back out. When an item is offered for sale, and a good faith offer made, a contract has been entered. When one side backs out without a compelling reason, there has been an offense committed. At that point the offender is no longer in good standing. I will put a value on your stove. It is worth nothing. Sugar coated ol' Nordicthug
Value is down to what a punter will pay withdrawing a sale is not good practise I would not buy it from you for a dollar, I'd worry the stove never turned up
Hey!, I read the original post and when he stated "It went crazy so I took it off for some research" I thought: Translation I am greddy and wasn't happy with my found good fortune. People like this make me sick! Be happy that you can make some money. I figure a fair price is ten dollars shipping included. Chuck
I had the same thing happen.I had a seller at the flea market sell me a Primus#1 and in talking to him he told me he had bought a truck load of stoves just like it.I tryed not to sound to interested but asked him if he would be selling more and when he would return to the market. He returned but no more stoves ever showed.I think he did some research and decided not to sell them at the flea market.I have asked him what happened to the additional stoves and he makes excuses,I forgot to bring them etc. Dan
Greetings, Stove Mates, When I read the post of our "Guest", Mr. Greedy Guts, I was really pissed, and wanted, immediately to know, exactly, who he was!! Though we'll probably never know, let us all remember NOT to bid on ANY Coleman Solus that might happen to appear on Ebay in the future. Sad as it is, we have to hold fast, and try to keep this creep from making even a $1 on his stove!!! What a punk, and just the sort of bad Ebayer for whom we all need to watch out!! If I ever figure out who he is, I will be sure to post his name and address here, for all to see. We have to protect each other from his sort, as he is bad business, all around!! Take care, and God Bless! May our Greedy Guest get everything he "deserves"!! Doc Mark
While I agree that this is bad eBay behavior, I also think it's a bit blown out of proportion. I assume (but I don't know), that eBay rules allow the termination of an auction. In any event, it's not a holy relic and it's a commercial transaction. Whatever one thinks of a seller, as long as he sends what he sold, then someone who wants the stove should buy it, if he can get it for the right (to him) price. Not every offense is a hanging offense; some are just whipping offenses! As for someone who sells one item at a low price, then finds out that his stuff is a lot more valuable and so doesn't bring it back to the flea market; what's wrong with that? (Though he should come right out and tell you, of course.) I say this as someone who has never sold anything, not even had a garage sale. But I am surprised at how often a lot of emotion gets associated with small money transactions. If I think I'm getting a steal on something, I'm glad, but I don't get mad if the seller is wiser... Don't really know why I'm posting this, except that our erring guest might profit more from education than from the pillory!
I'd rather just kick him in the B@lls just once! It would make me feel better and then we can get on with it and bid again on numb nuts' auction. Let's face it, we're all going to do our best to warn our mates of this bloke ( or in Canada - Jabroni!) if he's Ebay'ing.
Wow. A couple of days off-list and I missed all this excitement. Ebay can be a such crap shoot. That Solus could have had a crazy week and the following week nothing. This "stove" market is just such an iffy thing, I would never invest in them to make money. I would have just let it stand and get what I could for it. Money is money! Also, I would have done some research before selling it.
I don't know what all the fuss is about I bought a solus at a flea market last month for $8 Canadian(no bartering, thats what the guy was asking for it).htis fellow is hurting himself far more than any of you, besides from what Ive read here no one here would admit to owning a Coleman stove anyway let alone to bid on one
I may not be a fan, inspite of being an American, but, there are some here who swear by them. By the by, so far as I know, the Coleman Solus is one of the rarer ones due to it being a straight pressure stove.
Actually, I like Colemans -- I have a number of them -- and I certainly wouldn't mind getting my hands on a Solus, especially for $8. ....Arch
my apologies for sounding a bit rude,I'll try to be more considerate in the future.I am a bigtime coleman fan but I also like most anything that burns liquid fuel, the european brass stoves are beautifull but hard to come by here in Alberta Canada
