There is an ebay seller, selling a used enders 9061 that is missing the complete pump assembly. When I pointed this out to the seller I was informed that there was no need to be unprofessional. I said " The stove is missing the pump and is useless without it"
It might be useful to someone that needs a tank, or other parts that are present. I buy incomplete items all the time.
One of my peeves is the Svea 123 and 123R. The sellers don't seem to do any research. Sometimes works for us.
It isn't worthwhile to rebuke the sellers of small old devices like these. It's best to suppress the desire to deplore, to rebuke, even to correct, etc., especially on small matters. This is a precept I picked up long ago and it has stood me in good stead.
I prefer to buy from someone that DOES NOT KNOW what they have. I do the research, and I save the money.
I get the OPs point, I often point out to people that what they have is an easy fix (though not stoves) because although it would be a bargain to the buyer and everyone wants stuff cheap it seems unfair to see something go for peanuts instead of what it should be worth. or pointing out the obvious error that is the difference between a working item or spare/repair.
Often a seller paid next to nothing for what they are selling. Why must the middleman get all the benifit of a hig price for something they are flipping for profit and didn’t even bother researching it.
I'm guessing everyone's seen the eBay seller trying to sell an "extremely rare army stove" for a huge amount of money? Maybe it is worth it, but that much?
an extremely rare hexy stove sort of thing. there are professional car booters on ebay and there are those who buy something knowing little about it beyond they don't need it anymore. a little old dear down the road sells stuff on gumtree and car boots for charity and I'm always being asked what something is or what wood it is made of.
she's just a front for a huge drugs empire and off shore money laundering. Be careful of 'old ladies'.
with an enthusiasts knowledge of stoves you might consider yourself to have a 'duty of care', your intervention might save a buyer from a trip to hospital or worse
or like the current (as of this entry) listing for a "NOS Vintage Rare!" Trangia DuoSSAL 25 kit that is one of the pre-re-releases in the black box packaging that were for sale for a very short time a few months ago.
I saw that. I suspect he/she is a member here, or CCF, and is quite aware of that item. it was 124 USD plus shipping (free) from Canada. I really should have gotten one when I had the chance.
