The number of views is not included in the Conversations page as it is on other pages. I cannot tell if someone read my PM, to them, or not. If I do not get a reply, I would think it a choice on their part, if I cannot know if they read it or not. Ken in NC
I've noticed that problem myself. When you don't get a reply it would be nice to know if you're being blown off or if they just haven't read it yet. Maybe it's a problem that can be fixed. Ben
There is no feature or add-on currently available. I have posted it as a suggestion for a future release. I'll not be commissioning any further custom work outside of our core features for a while yet as I have the CPL migration to deal with & a major new version of the platform due out in the not too distant future which may require work on our custom features before we can upgrade. In the meantime you'll maybe need to give a conversation a bump if it's not had a response. I have a bad habit of reading messages, thinking of a response but not sending it & then forgeting as my head is normally in about 3 places at once & I'm the worlds worst multi-tasker! Other folk are maybe the same.
I've just had a message that an add-on is available. It is not free however & the feature you're looking for is only a small part of it. There is also a change of developer. I will investigate it's development status for current & future platform versions. It's something I will consider once we are on the next major version release.
It seems to be a pretty ordinary mistake to leave such a simple feature out of forum software. I was always used to the messaging system being called simply Private Messages. Like everything else these days, they have to reinvent names for modern times. Rather than simply private messages, it's Conversations or Private Topics. Boo Hiss. I hate Change.
These things vary from platform to platform. I know what you mean about change though. I've heard LPG as a fuel is gaining in popularity.
http://www.applebyfair.org Lots of the 'Sulky' carts ridden around here. Even seen one at the local McDonalds drive-thru. My neighbours in previous village I lived in rode them. Links to a big annual fair about 80 miles from here.
Oh, yes. An alert, that it was read, is a good idea. Then if they do not reply I can then safely assume the worst. That they do not wish to respond. Ha Ha Ha! I do wish more members would add comments about this. Thanks, Ken
I am with you. I miss to be able to see if a PT has been read or not. Mind you! Even with this function, or the old one, you still can't tell for sure if the other part actually has read your message or not. Since it's default to also send the PT as a regular e-mail, it has probably been read there even without the member being logged on to the site. So if the other part for some reason decide to ignore you, they still can read your message without actually revealing that they have done so.
