And on the back (pun intended) of everyone's advice a GSI 10 inch hard anodised oven is on it's way in my direction. Sadly missed the Cotswold Outdoors half price sale at £40. Link was on Bear Grylls site so must be good.
@Simes cor a minidisk very retro. wasn't having a go about the cycling, I'm a practicallity over weight type and have just started again after 15 years away . as for the dutch oven, you can line it with styrene and wear it as a helmet
Semper Fi, Brother! I know first hand about Esprit de Corps and Gung Ho Spirit. Did some casual backpacking in Japan. Attempted Fujisan in a typhoon. Funny, three aged females going to a mountain top with cast iron cauldrons? Sounds like something out of ''MacBeth.''
@anlrolfe Sounds like you escaped a potentially grizzly fate, groups of old ladies climbing mountains should be treated with suspicion, were there thunderstorms forecast. http://frogsandsnailsandpuppydogtail.com The contents of their other packs might have been interesting.
@Simes There were no black hats, brooms, warts or "familiars" but they did have the funniest looking tent made of gingerbread.
Necro posting but where would I find and buy that little folding windscreen back in post 4 or 15, the U-Toob with the tiny kettle?? I'm trying to make up a new belt kit brew set-up and I happen to have that kettle
follow the link at the bottom of post 15. They are made by @redspeedster. He and @Spiritburner have a few posts on CCS where they show the kit in use in the wilds of Scotland and Northern England. He's got several options available, with or without pans, and has his own design of alcohol burner if you'd prefer to use metho. Regards John
