Roland was at Newark in 2016. Good to hear he's coming over again!(Won't make me feel "the only foreigner" again!;))

    Best regards,

    Wim

    @rollschmidts

Great to hear you can make it again.

@Wim, some of our home attendees can seem rather foreign to others. :)

Understanding what Gary is talking about can be challenging at times. (apologies Gary) :) :)

While it is just over 100 days until this event, I thought it opportune to post up a request.
From Newark my next stop is Sholden (near Deal) and therefore I need to go south east. I can and will take trains if needed but wondered whether anyone is traveling that way / part of that way, late Saturday / early to mid Sunday?
The reason for asking now is that I have started to book inter-UK trains so some of my known logistics are already sorted.
Any help, direction or suggestions welcome.
    Cheers,
    Rob

    Hi @Longilily,
Thank you - it's the other way around: I need to get from Newark to Sholden/Deal.
I need to arrive in Sholden at a reasonable hour on either of those days, however the preference is to arrive in Sholden on Sunday (as that's what's been agreed with family [they will be slightly flexible [-o<]).
Yes, this is the weekend of the Newark gathering.
    Rob

Ok, Now I understand , Ill be attending Newark this year (missed it last year and felt the pain ) so ill be travelling back from Newark on the Sunday (Late Sunday), typically we (we being me and the illustrious @David Shouksmith ) pack up around midday, if I can taxi you and your family from Newark to Sholden/Deal leaving around midday to get to sholden for 4-Ish ? then maybe I can help ? How many people and how much luggage ?

@Longilily that is an extremely kind and generous offer.
You will be pleased to know that there will be only me (1 x PAX) and I will have 1x <23kg back-pack and a day pack as that's all I have booked on my flights.
I have been offered and have accepted transport to Newark and the use of a tent from @Spiritburner and while there the supply of inner tent sanctum requirements from @brassnipplekey, so your offer rounds out the generosity very nicely!
How does that all sound to you and, presumably, the illustrious @David Shouksmith?

Well this year will be interesting for me. We are coming to Newark, but then we are carrying on to Norwich for a few days camping and to see relatives. Then on to Uxbridge for similar. Making a week of it.
Then in August We are going to a music festival! (rewind North). My health at the moment is not great but sod it! We are going for it lol.
Just need to work out how to bring stoves to Newark yet not have too many to transport to the other places lol.

@geeves will do! I hasten to add that I have no history from which to adjudicate the good from the bad and the ugly (not that I am expecting any of the latter, given the stove glitterati that will be going!)

@geeves, the former has better facilities, but yes, either / or any number of others.

Not this year. The youngest is graduating high school about then. However, when she is gone I will actually have free time yet again. Maybe next year.

Catchpole is also good but out of the way for south islanders who might need transport

I may be spending more time in England in the coming years and Newark may well be on the agenda. Yesterday my daughter was accepted to the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts for next year. Our collective heads are spinning a bit at the news. She has to wait for other acceptances or rejections from various colleges so a final decision will not be made until spring.
