I have always wondered how those zip made stoves went i.e how well they performed compared to, say, their probable parentage by plagerisim - Coleman, etc.
Massive heat output I was surprised by it but feel a bit uncomfortable using petrol stoves ,also its not that economical on fuel 20 minutes near used a litre of fuel. At this stage its a backup for my optimus 22 which has served 3 generations of my family these big suitcase stoves do seem to be very similar to each other got another here too a unimet from Hong Kong very cheaply made thing but may attempt to get it going one day
They're a great stove I got a later one a few days back very dirty but doubt it has seen much use in its life it has a small tube clipped to the side of the burner , the other end rests in the primer cup I've not figured the purpose of it but all works ok with it fitted
@Garth Your small tube sounds like a pilot light. The idea is that it sits in the metho and wicks some to the top so that when the preheating is almost complete, there’s a small flame to ignite the burner. Cheers Tony
Here is my old Metacel with a silent burner heating up a Coleman oven. I have been using this stove in this way since I got it not so long ago. I have replaced the usual seals but not cleaned it. I may leave it as is. This shot was taken last week in our fishing hut. The first shot is our old dog then the oven , last is the hut. Cheers Rob
The Coleman oven works ok with a single burner? I've been looking at buying one myself might be able to put my primus #5 to work I'm still a bit uncomfortable with my petrol stoves plus its very hard to find around here unless you buy Coleman brand and pay a ridiculous price for it
Wim , the hut is a reconstruction of an old one we purchased some 15 years ago. It is all timber except the footings. I am lining and insulating it now so hopefully it can be ok for winter. Some help from friends but mostly I have done it by my self. Cheers Rob
Garth, the Coleman oven works well, it was an eBay purchase. One burner kero stove gets it to 200 deg C in a few mins, I just put some allumunum foil around it , this works wonders. I have been using it for the last twelve months with no regrets. Cheers Rob
Yesterday this 111T arrived, the previous owner used it with gasoline, also preheated with it I put fresh clean fuel ("wasbenzine") in it and tried it. Burns very hot, next time I will try it on kerosene. Has anyone an idea whats the use of cutting in the flameshield, more air perhaps?
oh my what a bangin 123R. Woke her up as been pared with an Optimus 88 cookset. This old stove goes like crazy.
