Hello @Garth . A 1950's stove with an older fuel cap by the looks of it. It looks as if it has had a hard life and will require some fixing. It would make a good project if you are good at soldering. Cheers, John
Hello @Barrett . I agree with you. The stove could be made up from bits from other stoves by the look of it. Refer fuel cap, pot trivet and possibly burner. I see the seller has a Monitor for sale with a Primus outer cap and missing its trivet which looks to be on the Primus. Cheers, John
Hi @Garth and @ threedots. I was think my post came out arse about face. I think the font, pump etc are older , but the burner is a "let's make it better" addition with the regulated burner?
Hello @Barret. I disagree. The fuel cap would normally be fitted to a font that would have the spirit dish sitting on top of the font itself if it is an early No.5(pre 1911 or not long after) and the font style and pump knob look later. It is hard to tell by that photo though. I saw your Hasag and this stove would not be any problem to you to fix as you certainly have the right capability to fettle it properly. Cheers, John
@Barrett . No need to do that. I am certainly no expert but wish I were. Apart from my early cub and scouting days where we used these stoves and had to maintain them; I have learn't many other tips from those here that are very knowledgeable. My #5 is a 56 model and has a sunken filler that one looks flush mounted when did they start recessing the filler cap?
Hi @Garth this is a Primus 54. Did you have a typo? As to your question I have no idea. Bet lots of others know. Lots of memory and knowledge going on on CCS. Invaluable.
The two photos are of different tanks. The second (better condition and newer) one is a Primus from 1956 - 1963 by AB BAHCO (recessed filler hole) Peter
