Help !! I have a Small hasag burner with a Small crack in the Tube just before the Jet where fuel leaks out. how do I fix?? Or Can it be fixed. any help would be Greatly Appreciated Thanks ECHO1
Hi @Echo Are you able to post a pic of the cracked area? This would help those with the skills to advise on options for repair or not. I myself would be interested in a pic of the Hasag and burner just for reference. Cheers Barrett
Barrett, I am not the Greatest with computers. if I take a Pic how do I put it on the Site. it is a 00 hasag. Looks Old !! Small Crack not all the way through. I was thinking of sweating like a water pipe?? Help me with the Upload and I will post several pics Thanks
@ECHO1 1. Click on “Reply”. 2. Click on “Upload a File” 3. Click on your photo. 4. Click on “Full Image” and let it load into the dialogue box. Cheers Tony
Hi Echo I take a pic on my phone, then start typing a reply on the CCS tread and when ready to insert pic click on the upload file tab at bottom of page, this will open up into your files, on my phone it requires me to then click on DCIM, then CAMERA, then I can click on pic I want and then click OPEN which will transfer it over to reply page just below the text box, once it's transferred fully you can choose either thumbnail or full size, clicking either will insert pic into text box. That's probably as clear as mud sorry, not that flash on computer either. Cheers Barrett
Please look at the burner Crack and give me ideas on How to Fix Anyone !! Help !! it is such a nice stove and I do not want it to be a Dust collector so Please give me an idea on how to fix Thanks All ECHO1
Well done with the pics Echo. I will allow the experts advise on repair. Thank you for sharing stove pics, it is beautiful. Cheers Barrett
The temperature those burner tubes reach when the stove’s fired up would quickly melt lead (soft) solder and silver solder (hard solder or silbraze) is what’s needed. Not a difficult repair but it requires the necessary kit for silbrazing - MAPP blowtorch, silver solder and borax flux. John
Barrett With the Time difference I hope that someone will read this and help me solve this. Thanks !! ECHO1
John OK after I pick up the supplies , then it is just like sweating a pipe?? If so then I think I can do it !! Truly Appreciate this ECHO1
@ECHO1 A repair like this is not difficult for someone with a bit of practice (as @presscall says). But if you aren’t going to be doing this kind of thing reasonably often, getting the gear for a “one off” is a bit expensive. If you would rather not make that outlay, someone here might do it for you, or you could take it to a metalworks shop and get it repaired. As @presscall says: be clear to whomever that it needs to be “silbrazed” or “silver soldered” to withstand high temperatures. Cheers Tony
Tony I have no Problem Shipping it out to someone who will do a good job. Yes this would be my first and I would rather send it to a pro. Who is interested in doing this ?? I have no problem Paying for the Shipping both ways and the job itself Anyone ….just give me an idea on what to do Thanks ECHO1
@ECHO1 See who responds here. I’d be happy to do it, but postage from US to here and back is a killer; and I’m just about to go to Namibia for three weeks. You could also get it touch with “Bluewater Stoves Restoration” and see if Gary can do it for you. Cheers Tony
Tony Thanks... Enjoy Namibia !! I will get InTouch with them. I might go to a jeweler also and see if it is something they would do !! Is Bluewater in the UK or USA ?? I'll look them up. Tony Thanks for your help...John You Too !! Cheers ! ECHO1
This would be my suggestion too. He's done burner brazing for me on a couple of occasions. He's in Oregon and shipping cross country is very reasonable as are his rates. He's got the right tools and right experience and does high quality work. Ray
Bugger all, get a copper phosphorus brazing rod at the local hardware, no flux needed, a few minutes with a propane torch, and Bob's your uncle! Easy peasey, IMO. Murph
@ECHO1 G'day Echo1, here I did a repair similar to your problem. I hope it helps. https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/1954-primus-41-silent-burner-repair.31066/
